start buying first or selling on ebay ?

So what works best im all up and running and want to know is it best to buy few items first or is it ok to start listing right away ?

Thanks.

Elijah 08-25-2012 02:10 PM

I personally list straight away. I use up the 100 item limit on day 1 and never touch the account again after that.

Nice so what are you listing lol ?

Also is that upto 100 a day woah, im looking to go slow say few items a day then build it up. Listing dvd's at the moment.

Callidus 08-25-2012 02:14 PM

DVD's can be problematic as can video games....

I always start selling straight away and switch between accounts every 50 or so items sold and then rotate back through the accounts.... dont use one account all in one go

Why not touch the account again after the first month??

bumder 08-26-2012 01:55 PM

I've always brought some crap beforehand, to build feedback.

Shouldnt be, make sure you are fully verified on PP, added CC etc... then link EB & PP and turn EB into a seller account once done click, Request Higher Limits and they should go to 100 / £3500 if you have chosen to be a business seller.

One of the changes in your absence. . .

Many accounts go from 10 to just 25 when requesting higher limits.

Really...?

Apologies then on the above comment.

Also ebayorbust do they send out PIN's to ALL new accounts now?

You need to buy and read the stealth guide again if you are unsure of a elementary question such as this one.

Elijah's advice is absolutely terrible. I'm guessing the product he lists has zero risk. If you list that much in one day on a new account and has slight risks in the item, you can kiss that account good bye in a matter of minutes.

To raise limits, its now from 10 to 25, You will have to be lucky to get the 100 now.

Just sell up to your limit every month and wait, If you do want to raise the limit further you might have to ring them to discuss your business plan.

I try to avoid that and wait for the increase...........:pop2:

Nah, that is an exaggeration. They are "hot" items, and selling them on a PayPal account will get you an invoice/documentation request eventually. I have even listed many of what people would consider to be the "king" of "high risk" products, such as Apple and branded items of clothing/accessories, on day one without a problem. The listings are always visible within 2-3 minutes also.

Buy first and build credibility

Elijah 08-27-2012 03:33 AM

I find that to be a waste of time. Generally speaking, buyers aren't put off by a 0 feedback rating (although I did have one strange guy ask me why I had no feedback on my first day... weirdo)...

Is it risky to create 5 ebay accounts but only use the same paypal for all of them? Because at the moment I just do not have the ID to open up more bank accounts in the UK!

GreenBean 09-13-2012 05:50 AM

Of course it is risky.

You've been using no ID for months now. ..... not gone & done anything about getting ID?

What about the posts by TizWoz where he spells out what to do for your issue?

Unless you've not told the entire story and that's your choice, I know for certain it is possible to obtain sufficient ID to get a bank account that can be used for paypal.

If you've no inclination or time or dont want to spend funds to get ID, then re-assess your ebay plans

Killuminati 09-13-2012 05:52 AM

^ Of course that is risky if one ebay goes down then the others will tumble down to 1 ebay and 1 paypal is the safest

What do you mean you don't have the ID to open more bank accounts how did you open up your first bank account ?

I hope your not using stealth details to open up bank accounts :nono:

Yer I have, but I have to pay big money for a passport and I dont have a job, moved back with my parents also Im only 20 years old lol.

At the moment I have 2 ebay accounts attatched to the same paypal but the problem is I have reached the mp3 category limit and those are the items I mainly sell!

So it is quite a hard place.

A passport is £72.50, a provisional driving license is £50.

Even if money is tight, would it not make sense to save some of your income and get the ID?

GreenBean 09-13-2012 06:21 AM

Rubbish. It's only a hard place in your head.

Without looking up TizWoz's posts, the fee for his method was no more than £15, if that.

Instead of 5 accounts, do one less and sort the banks.

This will give you a chance of long term success. It will preclude your making choices that have one label:

FAILURE:doh:

mirus 09-13-2012 12:01 PM

Greenbeam I know your very much an expert in this field and I respect you immensely for all your help, but for novices like my self who only sell in one specific category and don't have the ID available to open different bank accounts saying it is not a hard place is just bang on wrong mate, I'm sorry but true.

' Instead of 5 accounts do one less? ' So only link four accounts to the same Paypal?

As for the banks I recently closed down one of my old accounts that is banned on Paypal and am on the verge of getting a new one.
