To contest or not to

Just got the following email. Question is should I send the documentation or not?

To help protect our customers’ accounts, we routinely review account
activity. It appears that you have more than one account, and one of them
has engaged in activity that violates our User Agreement.

As a result, we’ve restricted both accounts. You’ll still be able to log in
to view your transaction history, but you won’t be able to send or receive
money.

What happens next

As allowed under the User Agreement, we’ll hold the money in your account
for 45 days. We may use your balance to reimburse buyers who file claims,
chargebacks or any other reversals against you. Before we reimburse the
buyer, in most cases, you’ll have a chance to respond to the claim,
chargeback or reversal.

We’ll send you an email after 45 days letting you know when you can
withdraw money from your accounts.

What to do if you think this is a mistake

If you think this decision has been made in error, you can appeal. To do
this, please visit the Help Centre at www paypal co uk and click Contact
Us.

When you contact us, please have the following documents ready:
1. Your passport, driver’s licence or another form of ID issued by the
Government
2. Recent utility bill
3. Business registration number or proof of company registration (if your
account is in the name of a company).

Yours sincerely,
PayPal

That depends on A. if you have the documents they require, and B. if you want to try to regain use of the accounts.

agent-x 08-23-2013 07:58 AM

A. Yes I do as its a legit account
B. would be good to have it back

What's the likely good they'll let me use it again?

JamesNorth101 08-23-2013 08:00 AM

Not definite answer to this.

If they have linked you to another account that is breaking policies, I would say low.

Only one way to find out though.

agent-x 08-23-2013 08:03 AM

They've linked it to another eBay account which I used it on.

But that eBay account was registered on a different address different name. I was using a different PayPal on that account but that got limited so I used this.

They'll ask why my account was linked to that eBay for a few days. What reason is best to give?

Appreciate the help

agent-x 08-23-2013 02:03 PM

Anyone please?

From experience it does not matter what reason you give them. The accounts have been linked.

You should either do 1 of 2 things.

1. leave the accounts alone and let them cool off

2. give them the documents they require but if the docs are different from one account to another you will lose both.

You got linked...while it is possible to push back, you will need to make a strong case.

How do you think they linked you if all the registration was different?

agent-x 08-23-2013 02:43 PM

What happened was one paypal account got limited due to the amount of money going into the account from eBay.

So I got my cousin to make me an account on her name on her address.

I used that on the eBay account.

That eBay account also got closed by eBay.

So I got my cousin to make a ebay account on her name and her address.

What is the likely chance I can get them to give it back?

JamesNorth101 08-23-2013 02:44 PM

Very unlikely if they have all already been linked

agent-x 08-23-2013 05:50 PM

hmm

So ill find the true extent of the damage after 45days?

Still dont know if i should be patient or if I should send documents

jeffweico 08-23-2013 07:57 PM

I wouldn't send the documents at this point. Given what you have told us, I think it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY they will reinstate the account.

agent-x 08-31-2013 02:41 PM

:(

Would it make a difference when and if I sent the documents?

Could I not say I let a cousin use my account?

After all the paypal address was registered to a different address to that of the ebay address?

GreenBean 08-31-2013 05:51 PM

Do you really think paypal will care about that story?

They will not.

Your 1st paypal got limited.

So the fact of adding another one will have annoyed them greatly.

Sadly you did not play the game the ebay/paypal wanted.

Being told your funds are available within 45 days is not nice. It usally means Goodbye agent-x.

After all the info that you finally provided - after some digging my all posters - it is evident that you have been trying too many accounts and causing links. This whole combo is 99% fail to be appealed. 180 day for you in all likelihood

This sure be some hip jive talk, rsot.

What you saying?

:pop2:

I was explaining that FINALLY the whole story comes out after a lot of digging by all the posters on this thread. There are a lot of links - cousins, talking, "I let him use my account" = weak excuses....the appeal is likely to fail 99% of the time

Re: To contest or not to

Your account is history, all paypal are doing is gathering more information and intelligence on you. The more information you give them the easier it for them to identify you in the future.

Kiss good bye to the accounts, and start again, when you are up and running, and when you got more and more stealth accounts, come back to these when you have some spare time. Do not waste your time effort and energy on these accounts, rather spend the time more wisely on new ones.
