Windows 10 / Ubuntu
 

New laptop running W10 (I know but it came with it & old laptop deceased)
Thought OK - will add Ubuntu to run alongside, but seem as though it's not compatible with a W10 machine for some reason.
Running 1 stealth on the new laptop, but don't particularly want to run a new account, even as a new user account, on W10 as have heard there may be some security issues with it.
Anyone know of a freeware os system that will run on a W10 machine?
Or should I just buy on older laptop with good old XP still installed?

Maybe u can invest a little more on VMware? And then install Ubuntu. You can get virtual box which is freeware, but I find it to be crap.

Agree 100%, VMWare is perfect, also....get rid of Windows 10! maybe get Windows on there.

ich74 try this get a 8 gig usb stick. go to pendirve linux. install linux lite or ubuntu or similar on the usb stick.

reboot the computer to that usb stick. and it will run in memory .works fine. Linux lite has Libreoffice better than ms office , gimp as good as photoshop and free plus more fire fox thunferbird . No install to the hard drive at all.
You can take the usb stick out put on your pocekt or put it on any old pc even old xp machine and it will work fine
