The End of Stealth Accounts?

Hi
I see people talking about the end of the stealth account by 15th of June as Ebay will implement managed payments(I dont exacly what that means).I just spent 360 pounds on a stealth account with paypal , address , phone number verified and i am worried that i wont be able able to use it after managed payments comes in place..What do you think?

I think it's a bad time to be investing in pre-made stealth accounts, to be quite honest. But I also understand the account sellers need to eat so they likely aren't going to discourage you from buying them anyway.

You're more than likely correct

First of all nobody knows for sure. It's STILL all speculation at this point.

I would say it's safe to say that it's probably the end of stealth if you are one of those sellers that has dozens of unlinked accounts generating money for you. I can't see how people can make dozens of stealths under managed payments. I don't know how adyen verifies it's users. The whole reason we are able to stealth is because we have a basic understanding of how paypal checks it's users details.

But I think everyone will be able to have atleast 1 personal and 1 business account under managed payments.

1 personal using their real details even if you were previously banned. I think with managed payments being implemented it's safe to say ebay will give previously banned people 1 chance especially if their account that they convert to managed payments has already been performing well / top rated etc. (might be wishful thinking on my part)

1 business account registered to a business address - this will hide your banned identity.

I mean, you can have a dozen businesses tho.

The 15th is just the very first phase of managed payments being rolled out in the UK it’s gonna be quite some time from my understanding before it’s mandatory for all accounts

It’s going to be far from the end of stealth accounts because there are from what I have seen and understood so far a couple of workarounds that are already going to be options, although we do have to wait for it to be fully implemented and people to actually start using it before those can be put to test.

Re: The End of Stealth Accounts?

My own experience of this (on Etsy, not Ebay) is that they will just transfer you over - but on Etsy they held your card and bank details anyway

On that account (which has since been closed down because of ODR issues) I was on daily payments and one day a payment got reversed. It was a stealth account with a saver account that was allegedly OK with different names

I changed the banking details on the Etsy site and used my own name as payee as opposed to the stealth name and a different account in my name

I had to wait 5 days and then daily payments resumed until the account was terminated

Now I stress - this is Etsy, not Ebay, but I have used the same method on my new stealth account

The truth is no one knows how this will pan out but I feel (without any evidence I should add) that Ayden will not give some of the problems Paypal do - they are payment processors and any issues should be dealt with by Ebay

Only time will tell

15th of July is the date everyone is getting in emails. I think "june" was a mixup on OP's part.

I agree, one thing for sure those paypal limitations were they asked for projected sales, what you sell, invoices etc will probably be a problem of the past as eBay / Adyen can clearly see what you are doing on the platform anyway as they have access to everything already.

1. July 15 is a date for only old, established business accounts.
2. STOP CTRYING. There will be a solution.

Lots of things between the US and the UK are very very different

Something that applies for the US wont be the same for the UK always, and vise versa.

For those who think this is the end, well make room for new comers.

And more for us veterans too.

There'll always a way, plus the basics taught here in this forum will never change.
