Deed Poll Name change to Create eBay MP account?

EXAMPLE: I already have a Real eBay signed up with MP in my name.
Passport Name: John Arthur-Jones
D:O:B 1st January 1994
Address 10, Millway Dr, Oakley gates, Manchester
Bank name : John Arthur-Jones - NatWest

Then I legally Change my name with Deed Poll and get a new Passport.
Passport Name: John Arthur
D:O:B 1st January 1994
Address 18, Yew Tree Hill, Coventry
Bank name : John Arthur - HSBC

Would this work?

A lot of effort for a eBay account

I think this would work and is a last option for me if needed.

I would however change the name slightly more than that as a manual check of your old passport and new password by ebay could get you banned as you would look the same in both images and have a very similar name.

Technically it should work, but I think its overkill just to operate a stealth account

I guess it depends on how much money you are making and how reliant you are on the income.

That kind of change does not require a notarised/legalised deed poll, and the home office would accede to it in a jiffy. You need two other people to sign it off.

But this may not fly. There are a series of snares that would run you aground.

eBay does soft checks. John Arthur and corresponding details have to be found; otherwise, the account will go down eventually.

Even if you surmount the odds to dissociate yourself from John Arthur-Jones by a stroke of genius, the pitfalls that await you are just too numerous to list.

It would be easier to successfully create & run stealth MP accounts than get yourself into a mess for one account.

I think it would work as long as you have valid ID for the new name. Soft check may fail but there could be a number of other valid reasons this could fail, if someone had recently moved to the UK a soft check would probably fail.
