MP and listing an item question...

So, about a month ago, I was trying to list something but it said i MUST sign up to MP to proceed. I did not sign up and just closed my browser thinking thats the end of ebay for me.

Fast forward a month and I just tried to list something again and it went through ok without signing up to MP.

My question is: Why?

Also, when will MP kick in for good?

You will have to sign up to MP because paypal is no longer an option.

If you make any sales you better start thinking about how your're going to get paid.

In my opinion you experienced what you did because eBay is trying to retain as many sellers as possible through the transition. That would also explain why eBay keeps threatening to not renew listings on accounts that are still using Paypal and then renew the listings anyway.

Regardless, your days are numbered. Nobody here can possibly know when it will be totally mandatory for everyone.

That's an old article.
Ebay UK have made it quite clear that all active UK accounts will be on MP by the end of the year and that no new accounts can be created that aren't MP.

Like I said earlier, there's a chance that they will, at any point, refuse to disburse your monies unless you have a bank account attached. Best start planning.

Do you have a link to an updated article that says paypal will be removed as a payment method earlier than expected?

No, simply go and read the official ebay announcements. It's been discussed to death on this forum too.

Paypal won't be removed as a payment option ever. It's being removed as an option for sellers to receive payments.

You'd need an internal ebay memo rather than an article for accurate info about their plans because they aren't making this info public. Perhaps stock holders know their plans.

I have seen some sellers accepting wiretransfers only on Ebay, but they are selling gold -$100,000 per item.
Ebay Motors may have different arrangement, seller can take a deposit via MP,rest will be arranged between buyer and seller.
Do they still sell hotel room/real estate, vacation package, heavy machinery?
It would be crazy t o accept MP ,how do you prove delivery?
