Halifax saver & micro deposit

Hi everyone,

So I’ve added a Halifax saver account to my old stealth eBay that was requested for managed payments last year

It’s been about 10 days since the microdeposit has been entered in to my account, I did verify them by entering the 2x amounts eBay asked, the said it will take a couple of days for them to take the money back.

It’s been 10 days now and still they’ve not deducted the money back, should I be concerned & how was everyone else’s experience with the micro deposit being deducted back.

Furthermore, the account is completely stealth & it’s a good couple years old.

So far, the eBay dashboard looks fine & I am certain I can list though I haven’t yet

Thanks for reading

Can they get their deposits back? I was under the impression that Halifax savers could not be used as they do not have DD facilities.

not all banks allow withdrawals but this should not be the issue , the main issue is the credit check that will be coming later

Same, I did sort of get the green light from a higher up here (no names) & elsewhere

Then again, things are experimental so even if this account does go down, it would hurt a lot in a financial sense but as long as we learn & come back from these mistakes for next year, I don’t really mind tbh

I’m guessing that the deduction of micro deposits are straight forward, just a charge from eBay for the amount the deposited

I use Halifax - saver accounts cannot be debited - you can open more current accounts (I have 5) - think about where you are going with this

Really 5!? That’s a lot

Wouldn’t they ask questions though?

Still 22 mate don’t want nothing bad on my banking history

I’ve got about 4 savers but have never thought about opening that many current accounts

Re: Halifax saver & micro deposit

you can open current accounts , you can open savers

this does not make any difference , people who have the ability to open savers in major UK banks can certainly get current accounts as well , for example I have 23 current accounts although not all of them are for ebay

I think the focus of ebay is to seed out non-resident accounts , this is where nearly all abuse takes place and such accounts would not use Halifax or Barclays but rather Citibank / Saxo / Worldfirst / Payoneer / Clearbank / Currencies Direct / Banking Circle / Bank of America and couple of others

I would advise against opening too many Halifax savers, I opened and closed a few years ago. Last time I checked I was unable to open or close any more without going into the branch.

Every time I have opened a Halifax current account I have had to go in branch
