This is based on pure speculation. There is nothing in the rules related to any gov official stance that would force ebay to take a stand towards e-money/online banks.

Every online e-commerce platform (currently Using amazon and etsy also as a non-resident in the UK market with no issues) happily accepts either revolut, wise, monzo or payoneer, etc to their payment books.

It's not actually the e-commerce platform's responsibility to weed out any incoherence or malpractice within these banking systems they are refusing to accept, their sole job is to find buyers for our items, and obviously not very good at it, be sure they pay the sellers and take their cut.

These online banks are heavily regulated and have their own ways to verify any user they allow on there.

Long story short, always had wise for payments since I opted in MP and that lasted about a year, then restrictions, money holds, and too much time wasted with that broken customer support everyone knows about, I'm down to being paid on a 30-day basis while still using wise. Every other bank that should be available to me as a non-resident is impossible to be added to my MP.

The point is, small or online type banks usually will cause issues.

I know you said you don't want to use a big mainstream bank, but that's usually the best solution.

Any bank where you can just open online and get a digital debit card in app is now blocked by eBay. And even some banks that aren’t listed on trustly is blocked. I don’t know what eBay is up to.

And these same banks that are blocked by eBay links to etsy just fine

I can only repeat the same simple rule:

local banks that accept residents only and have a banking licence are accepted , this especially applies to all banks that have physical branches but also to most if not all online banks

Starling is an online bank and is accepted by ebay, they will need a phot ID and you will be required to read out a sentence whilst recording video, took me about 10 mins to open and use.

Wise is no longer supported as I tried adding it a few weeks ago and it was not accepted.

Just opened a monzo account, again took no more than 10 mins and same process as starling. Haven't tried adding it yet, will update once I try it out.

Good to know starling works for eBay and hoping for good news on Monzo being accepted.

You're welcome OP.

Within starling app you can open an additional account with a different account number, then you have 2 accounts to play with.

In Monzo there is an option to create virtual debit cards with any name for payment. This could be a great feature which I'll try adding as a card for "payment on file" purposes to pay fees.

As Samspalace said, it's all about trial and error.
