Managed payments question

Hi All,

I've been off eBay since managed payments came into affect and wanted to get involved. I've been reading through various threads trying to absorb as much information as possible, however, 1 question remains unanswered which I'm hoping somebody could assist with.

1. I've seen people talking about having accounts banned on MP but just making a new one with a different address and DOB etc. But won't your ID be blacklisted? How would somebody make a new eBay account with MP if their ID has been used on a previously banned MP account? My concern is I order thousands of pounds of stock just for my account to get banned, there is no safety net of just opening a new account like before.

Thanks in advance :en:

The "beauty" (for lack of a better word) of MP is that the same ID is used again and again for the bank account. MP seems to be ok on that for now. you don't get banned right away as it works currently

You mean with that - i can use my personal ID again and again despite of previous banned accounts with same ID ?

Yes this correct I’ve use my ID on 2 managed payment accounts after being suspended on managed payments before.

Re: Managed payments question

managed payments does not care how often you use same details , it is ebay that may start caring at some point , especially if any of the accounts were suspended for violations

Good point OP. Can the same real driving licence be used on a managed payments account when asked for, (£1000 threshold or anytime they ask for it), if it was provided on an old banned account 7 years ago, won't it show on there system?

If the account was banned with the same address prior to managed payments then yes you can send in your drivers license for the managed payments account.

If the address was banned on managed payments and your driving license has the same address you won’t be able to use your driving license.

eBay black list banned addresses on managed payment accounts. Name, date of birth they do not.

I would send your passport in if you have one and not drivers license unless address is different.

WOW that is a Good point.
but how can you use different DOB for a same ID? Or I can just use the same name and DOB but a different address only?

MP do not blacklist people for failed verification though so suspension due to MP compliance on one account does not bring down other accounts

Re: Managed payments question

It is just a matter of time Ebay will clue MP(Adyen) how to spot suspended accounts.
I dont think we have an account with Adyen,Ebay does,we are just subaccounts within Ebay, like Paypal.
if we do have direct account with Adyen, our fees would be much higher, given the volume of business we give them
Paypal has accounts with several banks, those banks dont know any of us who has Paypal account,we are just subaccounts within Paypal account

Re: Managed payments question

suspended accounts are not all equal , if they should start linking suspended accounts that it likely to be for policy violations only , all the other mass suspensions without reference to specific violations are unlikely to play a role

That’s exactly what I said managed payments do not black list name and date of birth only address.

If you were banned using your name date of birth and address you would not get back on using same address. You would need a valid address on your credit report not a made up address or a random real address it won’t work.

you are either blacklisted or not , if you are your name and DOB would be the main factors

Re: Managed payments question

Can anyone confirm this conflicting Information about name and DOB, just had multiple managed payment accounts banned, told cannot use ebay again and anyone at that address could be banned etc. I live at a different address and just changed bank address to this one not registered with eBay although I have had a couple of items posted to this address from a banned account but guess they go off registration address.
Wondering if there's any chance I would be able to create a new account if only name and DOB are only things to link me?

Re: Managed payments question

seems that eb is involved with your banning here and not just MP - you could do stealth eb account creation with MP in real details - have all your previous eb account been in the same info? just clarifying and trying to understand what's going on

Re: Managed payments question

Hi, yes everything was my real info that's been banned, I see its recommended to make stealth details and then add real details in mp but I'm not quite sure it's the same in the UK. My concern is if I use fictitious details it will trigger an ID check later and then can I pass that? Same concern with buying an account on here, guess it will just get asked for ID after a few sales and then banned as the details were made up. I think it will be difficult foe me to find someone's real info to use to pass the credit check. I was hoping to use my real details with different address (they have my first initial on the ebay account as that was what was on my bank account and thought it had to match exactly)

Thanks for the reply

It's risky but yes reusing the same DOB and name can work. But it better to have totally new details if you can
