adding bank account to stealth - rejected

Hi guys

I tried adding a new Natwest account to my stealth paypal account and was emailed this :-

"The £1.00
deposit that PayPal recently sent to your bank account as part of the bank confirmation process was declined by your bank because the bank account details that you provided are incorrect or invalid.

For security reasons, your bank account has been disabled for use on PayPal.

Please contact PayPal Customer Service for assistance if you believe the response from your bank is an error and wish to have your bank account reinstated on PayPal."

Bit confused, I though Natwest didn't have a problem with account mismatches? Or am I missing something and something else has gone wrong. I've £1k in there at the moment and want to start slowly removing it a few hundred at a time without receiving much more, bit stuck what to do.

Sounds like a possible typo when entering bank sort code or account number? Unless Natwest are getting fussy about mismatching names.

Linked a natwest instant saver to a paypal without any problems. £1 went in no bother, just got the standard email a week later saying the saver cant fund paypal payments.

I think the admins need to make a 'stickie' thread on the adding bank account process.

One only needs to add sort code and account number. If someone cannot do that should they even be using stealth account/s.

LOL! If only it was as easy as that. I guess those "paypal server error" issues were all people not knowing how to add sort code and account number.

Had the same! For a few days I could not even add the Natwest Bank, then when I finally added it it first said "You cannot withdraw to an unconfirmed bank" which was new to me, then the same message as above

Since when was it a "1 gbp deposit" and not a microdeposit?

Also... banks have several routing numbers. Such as one for wire transfers, one for ACHs, make sure you use the correct one.

Not on this side of the pond they don't, sort code and account number and that's it.

It's look to me that we might be adding Natwest to the shi*list unless there's someone who has added a Natwest successful lately can chime in

This thread was originally started in March.

Most probably it is a glitch or maybe some account numbers are being recycled.

I have a few Natwest accounts and have never had a problem withdrawing.

Ok

Well they called it a Deposit instead of a Microdeposit, and they tried 1 gbp, as opposed to a few pence as it is usually. Strange

I have some Paypals with Natwest accounts also, but it's a case of whether they are able to be added now

I've been getting the "error, please try later to add BA" prompt lately. New stealths. Created and 'aged' for 3-4 weeks.

Did you try entering bank details via pp automated phone system? That worked for me previously when I kept getting errors trying to enter bank details. Worth a try.

Mismatch reason

That isn't a reason for a bank being declined by PayPal. You are not supposed to submit a Direct Debit instruction if the account is stealth.

The confirmation code deposit is fine with NatWest, from past experience and PayPal cannot confirm that the account matches on both ends from a deposit, only receiving funds, which again should not be done unless your PayPal name matches the bank account holder's name.

This usually happens when you mistyped the info into paypal.

Are you absolultely sure you didn't make a mistake somewhere?

Specially with the routing?
