What happens if we don't upload that ?

And what does this now mean for all stealth accounts ? if every account holder is forced to provide a passport number that could potentially mean if you're banned off paypal then any new account linked with your passport number will also be banned ?

Looks like paypal reps have been trawling these forums and come up with the perfect counter measure.

Not everyone has a passport.

What happens if you try to upgrade?

Maybe a phone call is in order.

I think if you still start selling seriously ... amounts that require further identity checks etc then logging your passport number will now become part of making the account stronger.

I was also told by ebay that in 2019 they are rolling out their own payment gateway so thankfully paypal won't have to be the only option in the future.

As far as I know, at least for EU accounts (not sure for UK and US) this one has been there for a while and I never added anything to it... No problems. At 2.5k they're gonna ask for ID just as usual.

It does show it as an option, not as a requirement...

Passport numbers can only be checked by government agencies in the UK. IF it becomes mandatory (which I can't see it doing) then all you'd need to do is follow the correct format for the number and hope no one else has used the same one.
