Don't know about the UK but in the US I believe its verified based on the zipcode. More strict places base it on both the number of the house AND the zipcode.

Re: Bypass AVS Check ?

All of the digits within an address need to match the card, however all of the text can be changed.

For example, if I had a NatWest debit card registered to:

123 Pudding Lane,

London, E1 1AA

I could use the following address for AVS:

123 Blue Road,

Liverpool, L1 1AA

This will pass the check. If you change anything numeric, the AVS will return a negative result.

This is a generic explanation of how AVS works. Neither Paypal or ebay use the system as you have described it.

Would you care to enlighten us then?

I have always used AVS-based cards in this manner to make purchases without exposing my real details for intangible goods and have never encountered a problem, so whether or not this is how PayPal / eBay use the system, I am going by personal experience.

Nope. :d

What you said is completely correct and will work but it is not how either Paypal or ebay use the AVS system. Do a bit more experimenting. ;)

I asked for the OP's benefit rather than mine, I have no interest in the mechanics of it, for as long as it works this way :ranger:
