Adding Credit Card to PayPal - AVS Check?

Hi All

Not sure if this exact question has been discussed.

In the stealth guide is states the following:

"What about REAL credit cards? You don’t want to use a real credit card that has been assigned by your bank. The reason for this is because with a real credit card you won’t be able to bypass AVS set by PayPal."

What if I use a real credit card that has Not been assigned by my bank e.g. any old run-of-the-mill Visa or Mastercard, Not issued by my bank?

Confirmation: Is it the case that during the paypal AVS check it is only looking at the (house number) and (postcode) of the real credit card and not the person’s street, town or personal name for the card? So, if the real credit card and paypal account use the same (house number) and use the same (postcode), should it pass the AVS check OK?

(This is for a new 'Buyer Only' ebay and paypal account)

Many thanks
UZ

It matches the person's name. It also validates the street.
You cannot add 1795 Pong street(boggus and will give you error)....with 1795 Loftus Ave (it's real and exits).

So yea, AVS is not dumb but there are still other ways to bypass it.
That's why vcc's are getting expensive and rare every year.

Hi LSD

That's interesting (not sure if there is a US and UK variance?)

When you google AVS all the sites I have read state that:

Below is from Wikipedia:
"AVS verifies the numeric portions of a cardholder's billing address. For example, if the address is 101 Main Street, Highland, CA 92346, in the United States, AVS will check 101 and 92346."

Below is from paypal themselves:
"AVS checks only for a street number match, not a street name match, so 123 Main Street returns the same response as 123 Elm Street."

Based on this I would assume that as long as the house number and the postcode are the same it should be OK?

I hope this is the case as VCC's are going extinct, so moving to real CC is the only option now.

Yes, as long as house number and post code matches, they'll normally pass.

SaiJin, thanks for confirming what I was hoping would be the case.

I’ve had a very stable and hassle free stealth ‘Buyer Only’ ebay/paypal for a number of years with a linked bank savings account and confirmed Entropay VCC used for the payment of ebay purchases. This was my first stealth and as such I probably over engineered it for a buyer only.

However, now that Entropay is dead I’m taking the opportunity to create a brand new ebay/paypal buyer only account in a far simpler way, which has minimal mismatching names and addresses and no VCC.

The plan is to:
• use a nickname for my first name and keep my real last name
• use my real house number and real postcode, but very slightly amend the street name e.g. (88 Brooklands Place) to (88 Brooklands)

This should allow me to confirm a real Credit Card and avoid the complexities of VCC.

All the usual will also be done:
New > PC user account, IP address, Phone number, Email address, Bank account and Credit card

Fingers crossed it all goes to plan.

Please let us know if it works.

I run a stealth buyer account with a made up name (no relation to my real name) and my real address.

I’ve found debit cards from all major banks get added to PP without any problems, or need for further checks.
Recently I set up a new account with N26 initially this card didn’t automatically pass the CVS check. But once PP did the deposit to the card, where you then have to enter a code into PP it was fine.

The AVS check passes because you are using your real address.

Hi Ebayorbust

Can I check the following with you.

Imagine that the name and address below was used for an ebay account that was permanently banned over 5 years ago – the paypal account was not effected. (Holt End is a small village in Redditch)

Full ‘Real’ Name:
Richard P Brown

Full ‘Real’ Address:
6 Brooklands Close
Redditch
Worcestershire
B98 9AN

(Holt End was not included in the address above)

I now want to create a brand new ‘Buyer Only’ ebay and paypal using a tweaked version of the name and address from above.

Tweaked Name:
Rick Browne

Tweaked Address:
6 Brookland
Holt End
Worcestershire
B98 9AN

(Holt End is used instead of Redditch)

Street Number and Postcode have been kept the same for Credit Card AVS check.

Do you think that the tweaked address is different enough from the first address to avoid ‘address’ linking in ebay/paypal?

Many thanks

Address verification system.
It matches your provided address with card's billing address.
It should match perfectly to pass this check.
