My PayPal account recently got limited as it was linked to another account this prevents me from withdrawing money from my account to my bank account.
Backstory;
I purchased a desktop just a few weeks before my PayPal was limited as normal and paid via the bank account option on paypal from my debit card. Later on i was unsatisifed with the desktop and returned it to the company to receive me refund, while i was waiting to receive a refund my PayPal got limited as it got linked with a previous account. I have recieved me refund from the company but it's stuck in my paypal balance and i'm unable to withdraw it even after calling paypal i was told i must wait 180 days.
What should i do?
I've already opened a dispute with my bank though i don't think its going to be in my favor, this was what my bank representative told me (HALIFAX)
I don't know much about legal side of things but it seems only way to get my money back is via a small claims court or something, was hoping to find some answers or guidance as the amount is £1900.
Thank you. |

Was it paid from the card or the bank account? |
| hidef0rever | 02-04-2019 06:07 PM | Re: Limited paypal account, can't receive my refund I used my physical debit card, i have my debit card connected to my paypal as a bank account option and used that to pay for the desktop. |

You would either have paid via your debit card or via your bank account. They are 2 different things though |

| JamesNorth101 | 02-04-2019 06:23 PM | Re: Limited paypal account, can't receive my refund So you paid via your bank account? The debit card doesn’t really come into it in that case and the back themselves won’t do anything about it in that case
You should ring pp and ask why they are holds funds that are refunded as there is no chance of a charge back for them to worry about |

They did not care one bit that it was a refund.
As i paid via bank account will Halifax help me? < thats where the funds where debited from |
| JamesNorth101 | 02-04-2019 06:39 PM | Re: Limited paypal account, can't receive my refund Because it’s via bank account not a debit card they won’t
I would suggest talking to PayPal and suggest to them that they hold the amount equal to the sales in the last 6 months and then request the rest is released
If they agreed to that it would be a good turn out |

If they agreed to that it would be a good turn out | I will try that, also what's the difference between bank account and debit card?
The card connected to my paypals bank account is my debit card. |
| JamesNorth101 | 02-04-2019 06:46 PM | Re: Limited paypal account, can't receive my refund One is a bank account and one is a debit card
The bank accounts funds the debit card, but they are different things.
For the future you should always pay with a card, ideally a credit card but at least a debit card |

The card connected to my paypals bank account is my debit card. | I see, in that case there is there no way for me to chargeback paypal?
should i look into opening a small claims court? my last sale was few weeks ago so i'll be waiting up till 160+ days |
| JamesNorth101 | 02-04-2019 06:58 PM | Re: Limited paypal account, can't receive my refund If it’s not funded from a card you cannot chargeback
You can go through small claims but realistically your likely to end up having to wait the same time to get the funds anyway.
I would give them a ring with the proposal I outlined and see what their reply is then take it from there |

I hope this explain things
My debit card is linked to my paypal as a bank account AND a debit card, So this payment was a direct debit from my debit card to paypal |
| JamesNorth101 | 02-04-2019 07:36 PM | Re: Limited paypal account, can't receive my refund You are confusing all the terms here. Its really important that you learn the correct terms and what they mean.
Direct debits come from bank accounts. They have nothing to do with a debit card.
You have not used your debit card there. You have used your bank account via an e-cheque. Your card hasn't been used at any stage in that transaction so you cannot open a case with the bank. |

In that case how can i go about making a small claims court it seems many people have had luck with that |
| JamesNorth101 | 02-04-2019 08:03 PM | Re: Limited paypal account, can't receive my refund Again I would first go via the route I outlined
You can do small clams if it doesn't work, but it will take a few months and then you have to still get the funds which can be a PITA with PayPal. See if they will first released a partial funds and then take it from there | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:41 PM. | |
