0845 redirection does not work!
This is a real pain, verifying Paypal accounts, noone seems to have a successful way of confirming by "alterntive phone" methods, or they are keeping them to themselves

What service are you trying to use?

I still find using a paid for geographic number forwarded to a mobile works fine.

I think 0845 has to be free by law now, so coms company doesnt make profit out of it, so wont allow redirection, so try a different free to you number but redirect to a mobile is easiest..

A lot of the voip geographic numbers are way different from any local numbers. The digits are totally different. Paypal doesnt accept any voip numbers to confirm.

You still have the back up of receiving the letter (if possible) but now takes approx 20-24 days to arrive from Jamaica.

no ^^^^ voip often fails because the numbers they provide may have initial code correct eg. 0208 BUT the subsequent few digits dont match up geographically to a typical historical BT-issued phone number for that sub-area.

Yeah OOMpa the postmark I get on the PP letters is Jamaica. Do you ever receive letters or do you manage to verify by phone?

Letters are a bit of a pain, they take 20 days to arrive.

I have verified by phone on my non-voip numbers..the ones you pay £4 pm and have min contract on..they are better quality numbers

all my voip tries had failed..but I used them knowing that a letter would be ok too...

what company can you use numbers from that work? The best thing about voip is that you can get rid of them at any point.

I got burned when I use Tamar, I used to verify then realised they have a 1 year minimum contract.

I am currently waiting on letters but I would like to be able to verify by phone if possible.

I used Tamar, but I have the problem in that the digits after the code are just not a close enough match. (disadvantage to my location)

I think I will give city numbers a go.

At the end of the day its a pain but the letter does get there at the 20-22 day mark.

You can though once you have verified ebay put a mobile number as primary contact and the voip as secondary and also add the same mobile to PP for alerts.

yes I cancel voip on smaller accounts and add mobile, because the EU limit is a few months away, then I get a brand new non-voip (more expensive number) for the pp verification....it only saves me a few quid, but times it by the amount of times Ive done it, its worth doing....
