| | | digzz | 08-12-2009 05:04 AM | What's the Best Way to Vertify a PayPal Account with a Phone? I know that PayPal Now Vertify the Phone number by Location Using publicly available databases.
I've tried to use a forward service to redirect a local number to my mobile number with no luck. And I had to do the mail confirmation which takes up to 3-4 weeks to come.
I can't wait that long.....Any body done the phone confirmation without using there real home number ?
Also does anybody know how though the Phone Number by location is? :help: |
| getaroundebay | 08-12-2009 05:09 AM | Hi,
The phone confirmation with PayPal is very different to eBay. eBay just want to catch you at a number (that is not a mobile, 0870, 0800) although some non-geographical numbers do work.
PayPal on the other hand, you need to be clever, and using this method I have never failed to confirm location!
Go to voipfone.co.uk
Sign up, then you will need to buy a UK GEOGRAPHICAL number. Depending on where you live (where the account is made) will depend on what number you choose.
Is you live in Central London it will be 0207, Leeds it will be 0113, Peterborough 01733 etc. PayPal Now Vertify the Phone number by Location Using publicly available databases
Only that the number is where you say you are!!! No good making an account in Edinburgh and using a London number!!
Good luck!
Forgot,
Once you have the number, set up master call divert to your mobile. Make sure it is set to the highest tone volume.
PayPal will call, enter the number.....
Beautiful! Job Done! |

Good luck! | That's strange , Because I live in london and I used a 0208 where. And it still did'nt work. I don't think there system is just based on area code, I think it's more complex. |
| digzz | 08-12-2009 05:14 AM | Can you or anybody else can confirm this works with voipfone.co.uk ? |
| getaroundebay | 08-12-2009 05:15 AM | In the 15 or so accounts I have made since I first came here I have never had a problem with my method.
Do you use Entropay? You could try adding another card and trying to Confirm location again? |
| digzz | 08-12-2009 05:18 AM | Yes I use Entropay...But would it matter if I have over 2 credit cards on the account?
Just to let you know when I did this last time I did'nt use voipfone.co.uk. I used a different forwarding phone service. But it was not a VOIP service. |
| getaroundebay | 08-12-2009 05:20 AM | Sorry, I haven't done what I said myself, I saw someone else suggest it to someone who had messed up to location confirmation.
Before stealth, I had my debit card, and 2 credit cards linked to the paypal account!
So can't see any problems with that!
Well, maybe it was a problem with which ever company you used. I have used entropay for numbers far far apart and all have been good! |
| digzz | 08-12-2009 05:23 AM | Ok Anybody else got an answer for my problem? |
| getaroundebay | 08-12-2009 05:25 AM | All the Americans are in bed now mate! |
| Ebayorbust | 08-12-2009 05:27 AM | If your stealth accounts are "addressed" in London then I would advise you to confirm location on your Paypal account with a VCC from Entropay rather than phone verification.
You need an area specific phone number for Paypal. Being assigned simply an 0208 number will not be enough as specific areas of London have specific codes (the next three numbers after the 0208). Getting a code specific to the area you need will be problematic and probably cost more.
If you add and then link a VCC from Entropay after you've added and verified a bank account you can avoid the phone verification all together.
Remember though, you always must be contactable on the number you do give them - you never know when they might call! |
| Ebayorbust | 08-12-2009 05:30 AM | Having two entropay cards is not a problem. Just remember to change the contact address with entropay to the stealth address given to Paypal before adding and linking the card. |
| getaroundebay | 08-12-2009 05:33 AM | #12 You don't need to do that.
I used to do that, but entropay will limit your account and ask for proof of address.
Never changed the address, works fine for me ! |

Never changed the address, works fine for me ! | I've changed address several times without any issue. It is my understanding that Paypal verify postcode and house number / name to match up when authorising the £1. The whole purpose of this part of the process is to confirm location.
If the OP tries to verify with Entropay without changing address details I would very much like to hear the outcome. |
| getaroundebay | 08-12-2009 05:55 AM | But entropay dont give ebay or paypal name or address.
Try it!
I have never changed address on entropay for the last 10 or so accounts and they have all been fine!
I understand your reasons for saying what you say.
I tried to register a play.com account with entropay, and they seem to have better more secure AVS systems because you get an email saying they were unable to confirm the address. |
| captainjack1980 | 08-12-2009 06:04 AM | I can confirm that you don't need to change the address to add the card - but could you confirm that this is also true for linking/confirming the card after verifying bank account?
I have never tried to do this and would like to know.

CaptainJack | As above, can you confirm that it defiinitely works for confirming the card as well as just adding the card.
Cheers. |
| getaroundebay | 08-12-2009 06:18 AM | YES YES YES, it would be no good if it didn't confirm!
I think alot of people are wasting valuable listing time by changing details on entropay when there is absolutely no need to!
I was concerned, that if my account was flagged and PayPal manually tried to confirm the address that it would fail, but I think it was GreenBean that said they don't do this!
And even if they did, it would fail, because entropay don't give address details!
So even changing it doesn't actually achieve anything! |

I'll give it a try on the next account I set up.
Regards. |
| getaroundebay | 08-12-2009 06:23 AM | Try it, and let us know what happens....
I only have a problem **sometimes** when I have less than £3 on the card. even though they only want to authorize £1 it seems to fluctuate! |
| captainjack1980 | 08-12-2009 06:28 AM | Thanks... I'll give it a try next time as I usually don't bother linking - I have always used phone comfirmation to confirm address.

| oompaloompa | 08-12-2009 12:39 PM | always heard you have to change entropay address to match account, but if you say you havent needed to thats great news for forum.. |
| digzz | 08-22-2009 08:12 AM | I have Confirmed My Cards which is a credit card and a debit card. And it has not Confirmed Anything on the account. I was expecting it to confirm my address which it did not. Now I still have a receiving limit of £1700. Does anybody have any other ideas to confirm the Phone or address ????? | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:08 AM. | |
