new IP

Starting a new thread on this topic as alll the others seemto be old and outdated.

Moreover, there is no thread that really addresses what I want to talk about.

Lots of people have issues with changing IP address.

What I have read on this site is that o2 and virgin are very hard to change even if they have a dynamic IP.

I personally changed my dynamic to static, in order to get a new IP. However this does not help with multiple accounts, infact has an adverse effect, as with a static IP you have no chance of it chaging.

Apart from aol dial up, I was wondering if there were any providers out there that give you a dynamic IP that changes with the simple instructions to change an IP ? IE just switching off the router for a while and turning it back on.

Has anyone got, or know of a ISP that is IP changer friendly?

virgin is so easy to change their ip. just turn off and leave it over night. Then turn on in the morning, you will get new ip

Have you tried using a cellular connection card?

Whats that in UK english? You cannot use a mobile phone in the UK to verify your account

No, FirstEdition means have you thought of using a mobile dongle so you have a dynamic IP? Not sure how many accounts you are going to have but with a little effort you can use your current ISP and a mobile dongle. Depends on your plans :ranger:

I'd not use virgin myself but there's T-mobile that should work OK for you. :ranger:

Mobile broadband works well - I have a 3 mobile dongle, and an orange one too (T Mobile is now also owned by Orange). Both have pretty good coverage across the UK with fair speeds (ok for ebay/paypal anyway). 3 even offer a wireless version of their modem.

If you have BT total broadband you can also register to get access to the BT Fon network whereby you can piggy back someone elses wireless broadband connection (they have to be signed up to BT Fon too) I can usually pick up a hotspot in most residential areas.

Most mobile phones also have the facility to be used as a data modem. Ideal for one time access, to register an account for example.

Is "dongle" UK english? =}

The dongle was invented in the UK way back when it had some other meaning to do with computer security. Anyhoo, it's used mainly for mobile broadband these days. And I must say an excellent concept. :cheer:
