as you approach the £1700 mark on paypal

Set up bank funding
Add Bank Account
Submit Direct Debit Agreement
Confirm bank account
Business information
Supply additional information
Confirm account information
Confirm your information We were unable to confirm the information you provided
Confirm by phone or post

all my items are ticked but beside one of them it says unable to confirm

in a month or so i will reach the £1700 mark on paypal

what exactly will they request when i get there, i cannot remember what happened last time

also this unable to confirm will it be a problem?

NZT 01-15-2010 07:19 AM

Which one is unticked? Let me know and i will be able to help you.

captainjack1980 01-15-2010 07:32 AM

Hi, that is normal.... PayPal couldn't confirm your info by publicly available databases (electoral role etc.) so you did phone/post confirmation.

The £1700 relates to EU anti money laundering legislation and you could be asked for further verification before you reach it or after you have passed it.

Usually further confirmation of ID and address is required (so passsport/DL & a utility bill/bank statement would be the norm).

Oh sorry i didnt read the initial post correctly.

Isnt this the part where the ask to confirm your phone number or address and you have to enter the security code?

That seems to be the next step to getting fully verified.

Have you added a Bank Account at all? Its worth doing in my opinion. As you have certainly done some trade to get close to the £1700 mark, and if this is a series of small low value items I would certainly complete the steps to get fully verified.

I assume you have a certain amount of feedback in you ebay account aswell.

captainjack1980 01-15-2010 07:41 AM

Yes that is the bit with the security code.

As I read it the OP is fully verified with bank account confirmed.

They are just concerned about being asked for further info once they pass the EU anti money laundering ceiling limit.

He's asking about what to do WHEN he gets closer to the £1700 money laundering amount. He's verified already . :peace:

dburnside 01-15-2010 10:26 AM

yes all is verified, all items are ticked on my verification so no doubt i shall have provide some id and utility bills , must get them ready then :thumb:

oompaloompa 01-15-2010 10:43 AM

watch out , they can ask at a point £1200 onwards...

ID, no you dont need to provide it usually

idiotbay 01-15-2010 02:08 PM

is it possible to avoid it , i remember on my first ebay/paypal account i must have gone way over that

captainjack1980 01-15-2010 02:11 PM

No it is just a case of waiting for it to happen and having the basic additional documentation prepared to overcome any temp restrictions/limitations as quickly as possible.

NZT 01-16-2010 04:03 AM

I have never had to provide anything. Is this a new regulation?

If they were to ask for it I would close the Paypal account.

captainjack1980 01-16-2010 04:06 AM

No not new....

Just seems to vary when (or indeed if) you get hit with it.

CaptainJack

NZT 01-16-2010 04:10 AM

So if you get hit they want what? Just utility bills etc? Things you can "tweak"?

captainjack1980 01-16-2010 04:13 AM

At £1700 they are obliged to further verify your info to prevent money laundering.

They usually request photo ID and something to confirm address, so yes utility bill etc.

CaptainJack

NZT 01-16-2010 04:15 AM

photo id? hmmm i dont think i would bother, what about you. Do you do this?

captainjack1980 01-16-2010 04:19 AM

Yes I have had it on my main accounts and I provided.... I used my real name so it wasn't a problem.

Could be that I was unlucky though, as I say what/if/when seems to vary!

GreenBean 01-16-2010 04:26 AM

^^^It's strange the way it gets applied. Not just luck of the draw but what items are sold and how quickly monies move in and out of the account.

dont think you can close account, at that point, you can send and withdraw up to the limit though, so you could clear account out....Ive not had a request for id though, they just ask you for the tick list

NZT 01-16-2010 05:25 AM

Well I have never seen it and have gone way over those limits. Like you say hit and miss when and where applied.

Thanks for the heads up. But I have never once sent verification documents.

This for me is a matter of principle, too much Orwelian 1984 in my mind.

oompaloompa 01-16-2010 07:52 AM

^ yes but its stealth Orwelian, the docs they get are worth less than loo roll...

NZT 01-17-2010 07:11 AM

Yes lol, but my problem is that once I start bending the rules and doing things then I lose track, everything becomes grey and before long I have authorities at the door (again)

I have a real problem with rule breaking and I try to be careful now, for example if I send some loo roll docs this week, then I might think its ok to make a nice new passport next week, lol thats just me.

oompaloompa 01-17-2010 07:18 AM

ooooo I want to hear this story pming u....

dburnside 01-17-2010 02:16 PM

well hopefully my new passport will work, never made a female one before, never thought that far ahead when creating account lol

aslam 01-17-2010 07:02 PM

They gave me message at 1200£ to complete the verification by post and my letter get delay due to worse weather conditions in UK, but I made mistake by withdrawing money after that and they now limited my account and email me thet they have to close my account and once I complete the verification process I can write to them and they will review my account which I think will have no avail ?

Sp ater 1000£ to 1800£ is a danger zone any time they can halt the account I will advise don't withdraw money at these ranges

they LET you withdraw monies over the limit before they had got you to input code? Why are the blaming you and closing it, they should have blocked you until it was completed - fools...

sooo even if i have to verify by post etc which i wont be able to do i will still have time to withdraw my funds before it gets limited

oompaloompa 01-19-2010 02:48 PM

yes ^^^ you can withdraw, up to the £1700 mark...

but why would you get limited?....if phone verification fails, just give them another address

the letter will arrive to me end of this week according to there said time they limit me becuase on the day I request the post letter confirmation code in my paypal after 2 hour I try to withdraw 170£ which were not panding out of 500£ pending.

Just after doing that in 20 min they sent me an email it seems like there system feels that I am unable to recieve the letter or maybe going to take out all free money beacuse I didn't verifiy my account??

My personal thinking is they show 1700 recieving limit and once you complete the bank and CC verification they remove 650 withdraw limit just for us but internally it still active as my total withdraw reachs 700 when I try to withdraw last 170£ ?

So until you are not fully verified I believe by pone or by post must not withdraw more then 400£ even it says nithing about withdraw limit in view limits ??

thanks

oompaloompa 01-20-2010 07:08 AM

you can withdraw up to the limit, I would do it more than £250 at a time....

once code is inputted, you wait a few days and log in, your status will be confirmed and check under view limits
