Phone verification - HELP!

Greetings

I know this question gets asked a lot but I keep finding conflicting views and I dont want to get my new bank account etc banned by me doing the wrong thing. Can someone please let me know what I can do about Paypal phone verification? I have a landline that has been used with a linked account plus I have a mobile that hasnt been but I understand it needs to be a landline number for phone verification. Some people are saying VOIP numbers work for eBay but not Paypal yet some people say that there are VOIP services that DO work for Paypal verification - Whats the score?!?! Also I have heard of number forwarding services where you buy a landline number that when people ring it the call gets forwarded to your mobile number - do these work? Ideally I want the cheapest service I can find as I might want to set up multiple accounts. Hope that someone has the right info before I get my new stealth account banned before I have even begun!

Many thanks!:brushteeth::thumb:

I am in the same position right now... I bough a trackphone for my first Stealth account..It was just $9.99 with 10 free minutes for 60 days..
You can also use different phone companies with there prepaid phone services...Phone.com, ATT, Verizon..
Vumber is pretty popular on this forum ;)
However, I think the best option is to buy a prepaid phone with an option to change phone # every 24 hours.

Hi ptenchick, thanks for the advice but I think you might be thinking more about getting a US paypal account verified. I have never heard of a 'trackphone', what is it? Also I dont think its possible to get a UK paypal account verified using a pay-as-you-go mobile phone number as its not a landline.

You should post the flag for the country that you are in so you will others will be able to provide you with better information as things tend to vary depending on the country you live in.

I have tracfone. How do you change your number every 24 hours?

Thank you, cardfelon. I didn't know what country the question was coming from...Then, the best thing is to read UK threads about phone verification or ask someone from UK :(

On Tracphone you can call Customer service and request a number change. But you can only change your number up to 4 times a year.

There are some other prepaid phones that let you change their numbers more often than that ...

Also, if you use Vumber -- you can change your number 3 times for free then 1.95 after that....

Guys, i told you everything that I know... regarding US ;)

a landline number is best, it should match location of address

failing that a virtual number can match if chosen correctly

your bank would not be banned if the phone verification failed but instead a code would go out by post to address

Register with soho66.
Purchase geographical number for Leeds for £2 a month
Upload some credit £5
Forward soho66 number to your landline.
Register with PP and eB.

For multiple accounts, purchase another geographical for £2
Foward to same landline.

Soho66 did not work for me for PP verification, is hard for London users i think more so than other geographical locations.

Hey up Jonny ! My advice to you , before you go down the "multiple" route would be just to get back on, get sorted and get more familiar with whats going with setting up a single stealth.

The easiest way for you to do this ? Ring BT, tell them you want to change your number, they will do this for free without cost. Reason, your partner is getting nuisance calls in the middle of the night.

I take it that is your major stumbling block, well now that hurdle is overcome, the rest should be easy. Will take 5-7 days for your new number to come through.

Hope this helps

soho66 provide 0203 and 0208 for London

^^wouldnt they check and see if there were calls in middle of the night, i suppose to give this excuse youd have to actually make a few anon calls to yourself at night!!

paypalpains 05-31-2010 04:02 AM

No, they wont, just call them! It is your right to change your number, you do not have to give an excuse at all. They have a specific department that deals with changing numbers, you can ask to be put through to them directly.

Thanks for the links bode, will give it a go

Hi bode, soho only offer 0207 and 0203 , thats where the problem lies they do not offer 0208

skyichigo 05-31-2010 11:08 AM

For ebay phone verification?

Thanks

Sorry that was a typo before.

That's because there are very few 0208 numbers left. Ofcom released 0203 numbers.
