Dude 05-12-2010 07:06 PM

Adding saving account to paypal

I added a saving account (Barclay) to PP, sent over the DD and got the 2 digits, then when I went back onto PP to confirm the bank it had been removed.

I tried to add it again and it added it and now I have again sent over the 2 digits.

Anyone know what is going on?

Thanks

GreenBean 05-12-2010 07:47 PM

you've added a bank account that does not accept the DD. What happens the paypal system 'appears' to accept the transaction. Then within 72 hours, the bank account gets removed as it is not usable.

You need to look for a current account: you must check any bank account has the DD mandate before attaching it to paypal :spy:

Green this is a Saving account and as far as I know saving accounts offer DD. Plus if it didn't accept it then how come the transactions appear on my bank account (the 2 small deposits I mean)

Thanks

most savings account dont offer dd, some might, depends on which one, you will need to check direct with them

I had a lloysd tsb savers account, i got the 2 deposits from paypal, but when i went to confirm the account, the bank account was removed. It was worth the try.
So is thier any savers accounts that would work with paypal?

stickmade 09-27-2010 09:45 AM

Dude, i can confirm that, NATWEST savers will work, RBS will work, Ulsterbank & halifax. I know these will work because i have accounts set-up with these banks, and their all savers. The savers that don't work to my knowledge are santander, smile, co-op & the ones above.

The trick is to start with a current account, once you get your current account + online banking details, you can then go online, and open savings accounts, that will work with paypal, as it stands i have 1 natwest current, i went online and was able to open 2 savers and i received the deposits no problem! hope this helps

Thank you very much for this info. I have many currents accounts, do get savers account would be no problems. I have encounter problems with Lloyds TSB. I think RBS NAtwest and Halifax etc are good banks

stickmade 09-27-2010 10:45 AM

Yeah, their good in terms of, they'll give you as many current accounts/savers as you need lol

thats not a lloyds ISA though, if you add another savers straight away it should be o.k

cortex 12-26-2010 08:53 AM

No you're right its not an ISA.
Which lloyds ISA do you use - Cash ISA Saver or Fixed Rate Cash ISA?

Stigger 12-26-2010 09:08 AM

Cash isa as you allowed instant accress to your funds.

cortex 12-26-2010 09:59 AM

and on paypal which radial button do you check: "Current" or "Savings"?

Thanks in advance

PS youre only allowed 1 cash isa saver per customer

Stigger 12-26-2010 10:18 AM

i selected savings when did it

You are only allowed one isa full stop, by u.k you cannot have one with one bank and another with another bank but the isa is only as good as the PP account, once your pp shout down close the isa and open another for your new PP.

cortex 12-26-2010 10:55 AM

with the cash isa, im guessing it wont get kicked off and i wont have to add another account number??...

This did NOT work for me.
I added a savings from lloyds which got verified and then got kicked off. I then added a 2nd and this too got kicked off within a day.

cortex 03-06-2011 03:21 AM

I can confirm the the Lloyds TSB cash ISA do NOT work either.

GreenBean 03-06-2011 04:01 AM

I'm really sorry you went thro' losing a bank account, cortex.

This got out of hand by suggesting savers work. From using UK banks, my accounts have been most successful from a banking pov by having an account that accepts the Direct Debit
mandate aka current account.

Of course, I realize that users might have troubles getting current accounts. They do exist.
(And I think I've said that before :peace:)
