| razvan4NBA | 06-03-2010 03:56 PM | soho66 users i never used this so a couple of questions: ( applies to 2£ package)
1) can i just buy any ip phone and plug it to the laptop
2)can i verify paypal/ebay directly by receiving the verification call to ip phone? or i have to redirect it to a landline or mobile..
3) is it possible to change the number for free or i have to open another account and use same iphone
4) do the ip phones store the ip i make/receive calls from ?
5) on the website the minimum top up is 5£, how can i top up less ?
ps: i live in Bristol and they have 0117 number :) |
| razvan4NBA | 06-04-2010 10:47 AM | no one?...
ebay stealth tip : stop using windows ;) |
| paypalpains | 06-16-2010 05:22 PM | Well if their minimum is top up is 5 pounds, then why are you even thinking about finding a way around it for ?
secondly why do you want to purchase an iphone? you do not need it!
To answer your first question, there is no need to top up, as there is no need to make any calls.
Just purchase the number for 2 pounds, then redirect the number to your landline, there is not much else to do apart from that.
Soho is not full proof even if they have your area code, however it does work for feebay and PP, harder for PP |
| dburnside | 06-16-2010 05:28 PM | as paypalpains says, buy a number for £2 direct it to your landline, you dont need a voip phone just your normal landline, when you lose account cancel the number simples |
| bkkjus | 06-17-2010 04:18 AM | soho66 works for Paypal or not? Hi Paypalpains,
You mention the soho66 is not fool proof, what do you mean by this? You also mention it's harder with PP, will it work for verification or not?
Could you suggest a better alternative?
Cheers, |

| paypalpains | 06-20-2010 03:46 AM | Yes you can re-direct to mobile , I just prefer landline, works better for me.
No Alternatives, I use soho, however have to do some trials , as I live in a location where it is harder to get a close match. |
| RichieL | 06-20-2010 06:04 PM | OK here goes,
Bottom line Soho 66 voiceover ip is the cheapest and best geographically
based phone number system you can use.
Logon, sign up for a single account, no need to add 5 pound credit as you wont be calling out, total cost £2.35 inc vat, then download 3CX virtual
phone pad to use on your laptop, desktop, follow the verification and away
you go.
I have 10 plus accounts set up this way with absolutely no problems at
all, any problems let me know
Regards |
| Christianm | 06-21-2010 04:04 AM | I have Soho66 on 19 accounts now all verified , no need as previous poster to pay more than £2.35 as your not calling out.To cancel them is also simple as an email to customer service. |

| razvan4NBA | 06-21-2010 07:25 AM | is it true that you need the number just for your first sale ? to confirm your location ? after that ebay will contact you only on the mobile number you have on file ? |
i know this post is very old,(pointed it out coz i know someone will otherwise!)
but im gonna ask away anyway.......
can i forward all calls to my mobile without topping up the minimum £5 credit on soho66,
im in the process of signing up & i want to forward calls to my mobile.
i thought you can forward calls but it costs you as the post below reads
You haven't chosen a call plan and don't currently have any calling credit on your account.
There are no charges for receiving calls, but if you intend to make outbound calls to chargeable destinations or you intent to forward your number to a chargeable destination (such as another landline or mobile number), you should add some call credit now, just specify the amount below.
Call credit never expires, the minimum amount you can add here is £5.
HELP PLEASE:) |
| paypalpains | 05-11-2011 04:13 AM | For EB PP verification purposes all you need is the £2 package. You forward the number you purchase to a landline or mobile number, whatever your preference is. This has to be done manually for every number you purchase, as far as I am aware. Go to the call forwarding section, and input the number you want the number you purchased to be redirected to. Hope this helps |
cheers pppains :)
im onnit |
| dan.44 | 06-10-2011 09:32 PM | so what happens if it cuts to your mobile answer phone, and paypal think they are ringing a land line, I presume soh66 has its own answering service..? |
| undertheradar | 06-11-2011 04:06 AM | yes you can have an answer message on soho 66. but what i do is simply divert to my landline or mobile which both have a generic answer message if i cant take the call.
one of the great features with soho is you can have a little audio recording so you know which account they are ringing about !
if i need to call them, i just use a sip phone with my soho account. never use a banned landline to call them even if you block the number, they can still see it :) |

| ed209 | 01-10-2012 11:26 AM | I'm now looking into Soho66 as an option.. Now, can I use a my landline with Soho66 as a forwarding number even though it was associated with a limited Paypal account? or should I just use a mobile number that I have never used with Paypal as the forwarding number? |
| FizzyFish | 01-11-2012 01:20 AM | Use whatever you want.
They will only see the Soho number you supply. |
