Writing to paypal

is this recommended? IF so what should i include to get my account de-limited? Thanks

SaiJin 08-27-2010 01:59 AM

They should have a list of docs that they want you to send in.
even then is not a guarantee they'll lift your limitations.
They are bloody %$$#@!

discovery19 08-27-2010 02:01 AM

Ive sent all the docs in the requested, but they said they wanted to end our 'relationship' lol. i mean a letter to say i have not done anything wrong etc and they can not hold my money for 180 days.

Did you get the stealth guide yet? If not, I highly recommend it.

The only way you'll get your money back is if you drag them to court. Otherwise, yes, you can't access your $ for 6 months, PLUS there's numerous occasions they will never give it back.

Like I said, they are *******s.

discovery19 08-27-2010 02:37 AM

yes got the stealth guide, i dont really want to go down that route if possible, i just want my old account back if possible.

SaiJin 08-27-2010 02:44 AM

Sorry, the chances are 0% you'll get it back.
None of us wanted to go that route, but what can you do?
They victimize the majority of us who are trying hard to follow the rules.

I don't see you have any other choice at this point. Feel free to try if you want of course, but I think you'll soon learn that it's time to move on.

Contact financial ombudsman, and make a claim against them in the small claims court. Make sure you take the right people to court though.
If like you say, you have done nothing wrong and you were selling everything legit, you have have nothing to fear.
Claim loss of earnings as well as wanting your account re-instated.
Is a drawn out process, but you will get a court date.

Remember also that if the financial ombudsman (FSO) has to investigate then PayPal will be charged £350 odd for this by the FSO as part of their regulation requirements.

Always nice to get PayPal stung by this - if everyone being limited cost them £350 it may make some difference to their policies or make them think twice to imposing that limit.

So, search around (I'm sure there are people's letter templates on the Consumer Action Group forums for the UK) and make sure you send a good one off to FSO!

Depending on the amount in your account, perhaps the FSO complaint could be a good bargaining tool to get your money released?

FSA should also get a complaint letter - don't know what you'd say on this - as PayPal have to comply to a handful of e-money regulations in the UK and I'm sure withholding funds for 6 months would breach those.
