Refunded buyer but paypal taken money from bank a/c (stealth) rather than balance!
 

Hi, I have just resolved a limitation on my paypal account and ebay account (both stealth) which I was very pleased about.. they are both in my friends name which he is fine with.. I linked my own bank account to his stealth account..

I have just gone to refund a buyer for an item he returned but instead of paypal taking the money from the balance in paypal they have taken it from the bank account (which is in my name not my friends).. this seems strange to me as it has never happened before, I had over £1000 in my paypal account and the refund was only £15..

Will paypal be able to see the name on the bank account when they take the money for this refund and will this cause me problems (my own paypal account was limited a few months back)??

Should I delete the bank account that they have requested the money from?

Just as an update, paypal won;t let me delete the bank account as there is a payment pending from it.. I have cancelled the paypal direct debit with the bank and rang the bank to see if I can close the account, they say the only way I can do this is to go into the branch to close it...

What would you do in my situation? Will paypal still see the different name on the bank account even though I have cancelled the direct debit with the bank??

Should I still try and close the bank account tomorrow?

Paypal can't see the name on your bank, I've done this many times.

Actually they should...think about it, you are essentially writing a check to them via your bank. They will see the name on the check and the name on the account don't match...less you registered the account/bank under name variations.

That has happened to me. I refunded a buyer on stealth account but since I didn't have enough in my Payapl account they took the full amount from my bank account. I was for certain that it would have my personal info on it. Nothing have come of it (other than the late/overdue charges I also had to pay) so far and it has been 4 months ago. Not sure how that works but you would think if their pulling money from your own bank account a name would be attached to it.

they did this to me,was your account limited at the time you refunded the customer? if so then it will pull from your bank not your funds

Yeah, I buy loads of stuff on stealths with my bank account. Although the stuff never arrives, anyone know why? :confused:
