What happens if there is no money in my account?
 

Ive bought something on ebay using paypal. The money is due to go out in the next day or two by direct debit and there is a back up debit card on the same account if that fails.

What happens if there is no money in the account and both payments fail.

Will i either owe the seller money or will i end up with a negative paypal balance and sort it out with paypal. I am talking over £800 here.

How can it go thro' if there are no funds in your paypal balance & nothing on your back up source?

Doesnt make sense you would even consider doing the transaction for that much money....

it all depends on your primary funding source that you assigned in your pp, if there is no money there, pp will email you that the transaction was failed. and your balance will remain the same

The primary funding source is direct debit so the money normally comes out that way.

So if in a few days the transaction has failed. Will the seller keep the funds? And I get the negative balance Or will it be taken from them?

Does the initial payment show up as instantly gone through? If so, then you will owe and your account will likely be limited.

If there isn't no funds in the associated account then it won't complete successfully, PayPal will send you an email saying "Payment Failed" and from there. Your Bank will charge you a fee accordingly for the DD failure, I've received previously a letter from my Bank issuing me with a £10 fee each time. Not worth it especially if you value your PayPal and Bank accounts.

You will not only get hit with a fee from the bank if that is your source but you will get nailed by pp.

Best to get some money transferred real quick.

The direct debit has been canceled. I was only worried that I would owe the sellers money and not paypal. but it doesn't look that way now

It doesn't matter if you've cancelled the "Direct Debit" or not either way, you will still owe money to PayPal/eBay so regarding your question it's already been answered.

Sounds like you dont want to pay and want something for nothing as you cancelled dd and are asking iffy questions etc. - no scamming man - someone will end up paying for it and ideally it should be you and not some poor sod that is trying to earn money for food for their family.

If you want to make some quick cash, then go to Boots on your high road, go to the reduced shelf and grab some bargains - sell on eb for just under rrp. - eg. you can get top of the range latest womens face cream worth £45 for £4 - nice profit and people will buy. I go weekly, grab a basket and clear the shelf. The staff love it! and you get Boots advantage card points, so money off next shop.

yes and it will be the seller left to foot the bill. however he/she will be able to claim the seller protection If they realise.
