No refund from available balance on limited account

So after getting limited my only option was to refund the guy who had paid me, went to refund, it said I didn't have enough on my balance so would come from my bank account and would take 5-7 days, even though the guys money was sitting in my available balance in PayPal. Why? I cancelled the direct debit, whats likely to happen now?

GTB 10-20-2011 01:35 PM

they will not refund from your balance if you are limited

not sure if they will refund or not from your balance now you have cancelled the dd mandate

it makes sense for them to do that but we are talking about pp

if they will not refund it i think you should find a way to settle the matter with the buyer as it is not there fault you got limited

plus the money will become available after 6 months

get some more accounts goin, buy the stealth ebook, and learn from previous mistakes

all the best

dj9928 10-20-2011 01:40 PM

I have the stealth book. This is baffling, so they effectively just steal your money

GTB 10-20-2011 02:11 PM

sort of and they make interest on it too

but you will get it back after 6 months

just get some ore accounts goin

dj9928 10-20-2011 02:16 PM

Its not the point, If I get the guy to open a dispute would that speed it along? The guy now wants to pay me via a bank transfer as he also know what paypal are like so needs his money back.

GTB 10-20-2011 03:38 PM

i honestly don't know if they will refund if your account is limited

wish i could give you a definite answer

maybe some of the others will chime in:)

FandangoKango 10-20-2011 03:46 PM

Tell the guy to open a dispute and you can refund from the ebay dispute and it should take it from whatever balance on paypal. I have tried this and it works. Not sure if it will work on limited accounts so try it.

GTB 10-20-2011 03:51 PM

yeah fandango is probably right:thumb:

Limited = temporarily locked

This is what I do in these situations. Have your customer call paypal and complain that they have stolen his/her money as the intended recipient has no access to it. Under the guise of the words "completed" Paypal deceives buyers into believing the financial portion of the transaction has completed yet that is untruthful on Paypals part.

Apologize for their deceit and theft of their money. Sometimes Corporations do not hold to values ordinary people do, that's what I emphasize. Promise to call Paypal repeatidly alongside the customer
If needed, take a screen shot of your Paypal. Sometimes the REPS lie to the customer saying the $$ is available when it is not.

let buyer know it's important to record the name of the Paypal Rep she speaks with and the time/date of call. Or you can front buyer the money but ensure if you do that you nicely note that you don't mind at all fronting the money to her out of your personal funds, all you hope for is positive feedback and 5 stars

.

when paypal limits an account, it stops the account holder from doing certain things ( limits their actions).

So even with your best intentions you can not use those funds in the account to refund the buyer.

paypal are 'holding' the funds to offset any future claims. They could care less about you & your efforts to help your buyer.

Choices are:
refund from your own pocket. Nice but you need to be sure the funds will come back after the 180 limitation. Since you say you have removed the DD mandate, I am thinking you expect that limitation.

Speak to the buyer. Advise them in a roundabout way that paypal have held that buyer's money. Say how shocked you are to find this has happened. Get the buyer to file a claim with paypal. Let paypal refund because they are holding the monies. Let the buyer know you'll be in cotact with them etc etc. Suggest (strongly) to the buyer that they get the paypal rep's name to aid you to resolve the problem. Paint a black picture of nasty paypal.

btw, I've not read your other posts, why were you limited?

dj9928 10-20-2011 11:41 PM

The buyer is more than co operative, I asked him to open a dispute, he did it straight away, but the money is still sitting in the available balance, I got into the dispute and select "I have not posted - refund" enter the details, hit confirm then I get

"this action is not valid for this transaction"

GTB 10-21-2011 03:06 AM

what a f**k**g joke

what kind of sh1t is this

it is the buyers money ffs, yeah okay, limit the seller etc but if a buyer wants to get there money back they should without hassle refund them FFS

oompaloompa 10-21-2011 04:57 AM

this has happened to me before, could not refund buyer, even though I asked and asked paypal, they actually gave me several different answers each time.

GreenBean 10-21-2011 05:32 AM

This seems the new way with paypal uk.

Give different answers for the same problem.

There's only so many times a technical glitch is acceptable. :mad2:

How did u resolve it? U phone them they tell you to email and then they just don't reply. The guy paid by credit card so gonna inform him to do a charge back for non receipt of goods, its the only option I think.

MrMuscle 10-21-2011 07:09 AM

I find this one odd, i have a paypal account thats limited with a balance sat in it, until i supply documents.
When i log it shows a list of things i can, and cannot do while its limited.
One of things i can do is refund buyers, which i did a couple of days back for one buyer.
Suppose every situation is different with paypal

dj9928 10-21-2011 10:22 AM

I have almost resolved the issue, I can't refund from available balance while this other one is pending, the buyer has to cancel it and then I can refund again this time it will come from balance.

And just another note which may help, I did post this on another thread but i'll post it here to

I have found the cause of the limitation and hopefully this will warn others.

I used a random registration address, it was a chinese down the road. However I changed the delivery address to a neighbours address, I used this address as the postman always leaves her parcels with us as she's at work all day so I figured i''l use that as the postage address. PayPal told me there is strong links linking me to an old account and this has to be it, it can't be any thing else as IP,Computer, bank account, card etc etc are all totally new and stealth. So be warned!!

jnveed 10-26-2011 09:31 AM

Just a share of my experience...

I had to send an email first (just a formal step) and then gave them a ring and they were able to do it for me. The representative also suggested that I should be sending my request on complaint-response@paypal.com to speed up the procedure though I never tried the second option.

eBay King 10-26-2011 09:56 AM

Yes, they can do it. I have had this once before and it will be done in the end through them. I didn't give them a telephone call though!
