| pluto | 10-29-2011 10:31 AM | password recovery. If I call paypal to get my password recovered (after getting it wrong more than 3 times) what information will they ask me?
I dont have any card linked, so they cannot ask me about the card.
I can tell them the address on the account and the stealth name.
Will they require docs (to verify me :suspicious:) relating to address and stealth name?

| KingRay | 10-29-2011 11:33 PM | Cant you just go into your browser and recover them that way? I did this recently in firefox. Had password to sites I havent even thought about in months. If you are using firefox just do a search about it on google. I dont Use IE so wouldnt know about that. |
| pluto | 10-30-2011 07:59 AM | Unfortunatly I do not use the remember password feature in firefox. So this is not an option.
Original question still stands. |
| slapped | 10-30-2011 09:18 AM | It should not be that difficult, On the login page just Click on Forgot my password, Paypal will send you an Email with a Link, Follow the link, awnser the 2 Security questions that YOU Chose when you set up the account and then choose a NEW Password and New Security questions, you MAY also be asked to enter Either your Complete Bank account Number or Credit card Number it will be your Choice,,Thats it. |
| GreenBean | 10-30-2011 09:21 AM | Just be aware that paypal UK last week had a glitch for several days with password recovery. |
| yotano211 | 10-30-2011 07:58 PM | For future reference, its good to save all that info on a spread sheets program. What I do is save it on my desktop on my laptop, a USB thumb drive, and I keep a copy in my personal email. |
| pluto | 10-31-2011 03:51 PM | That's also the trouble, I have gotten to the security questions part and cannot seem to input the right information.
each question brings up several possibilites of awnsers (which I know what they could be) but then there is the combinations of awnsers and if the text box you put the awnsers in is case sensitive or not.
Would the paypal operator take kindly to me not knowing this information straight away?
Would I be treated as suspect for not remembering my password and exact security awnsers, again I can go through the possibilites with them, but a question of them being prepared to do it.
In hindsight, I now have all my passwords logged. |

| pluto | 11-01-2011 10:19 AM | they will ask the ones i have been presented with in the internet.
what im trying to say is, if i got question 1 correct i have to get question two correct as well.
unfortunatly as i read both the questions there could be multiple awnsers for both. proberbly why i chose them, but has now back fired. |

i never give the real answers, the way i see it if someone tried to hack my account that knew me would know the answers so not really secure. |
| pluto | 11-02-2011 04:59 PM | TizWoz: to clarify, when asked security questions you gave awnsers you didnt know were the right one's.
did they ever call you out on it? |

Hardly secret then. Of course it's an easy trick to get caught like that.
Preferable to combine them in a way only the user would know.:juggle: |

did they ever call you out on it? | Man, Either Im Crazy, or this Thread is Crazy,,
How can you get "Called out on" Anwsers to Questions Like: What was your First Pets Name?,,,What was your High Schools Mascot?,,,What is your Mothers Maiden Name?,,,What was the First car you Drove?,,,How can You get "Called Out" On Questions Like that? I Mean these are the Nearly EXACT Questions Paypal asks here in the U.S.
They do NOT ask questions with EXACT Answers like How Much is 2 + 3? So I do NOT see how you can get "called Out"
Or Am I NOT Understanding the Meaning of "Called Out"?
And if you are Giving them Any Old answer that even You cannot remember or be Bothered to write down somewhere, then you are defeting the WHOLE purpose of those Questions,,,
I Mean if that is how you are creating accounts,,well quite frankly that is Really Stupid,,did'nt you think of the Possibility that you might someday lose your Password,,,,,What was your Plan if you Lost your Password????
I see, Now,,your plan was to come here and start this thread and wait for someone to conjur up some magical solution to your problem,,
Who Knows, Maybe I am Crazy,,I do admit that I have been accused of being crazy once or twice ;) in my life,,, |
| pluto | 11-03-2011 09:37 AM | you can get called out on them by them not matching to the awnsers I gave when I originally set up the account.
pp must have stored the original awnsers so the computer can check against them when trying to go through security online.
i think i see what you are trying to say, that for you the awnsers only have one definate awnser, thus you could never forget them. where as with me i chose questions that could have a number of awnsers because im stupid.
i would be giving the awnser i think it could be, but then I dont know if they will say "no wrong, cannot do anything" = further locking of account. i guess i wont know until i phone up.
your not crazy, thanks for the input. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 01:27 AM. | |
