sky ip address
 

I am having trouble changing my ip address on sky i have noticed recently they have updated the firmware version to 2.8 and now my network type is showing MER instead of pppoa and now my ip address is not chaniging at all before i can do it easy by logging on to my router and selecting disconnect and wait for a while and reconnect i use to get a ip so easy but now i think it is a sticky dynamic ip. i think they are changing to staitic

changes to sky are so s**t i am so angry


one problem goes another comes along


any one know away around this by changing the router to a different one?
or can i use another sky router that does not have the update? i am using a sagem router at the moment which does not have a model number or should i think about buying a dongle ive heard in the forum that 3 dongles are good and gives you a different ip everytime and if i was to buy the 3 dongle what plan is the best pay as you go??

Dont even start with this problem.. I made a post earlier today about it and eventually just got it to change!

I had to go out this afternoon for 3 hours come back 30 minutes ago plugged it all back in and wham, a new IP address. Doing this everytime is a pain so yes, I am either going to have to change ISP (to who I dont know..?) or use a dongle in the meantime.

You cannot change your router out to a different one like I was going to i.e. Netgear DG834G because you have no password or username. To go and use another router you need to 'flash' your current one then use a program to extract your account information and then input this into your other router.

Not worth it. Also its nothing to do with the firmware as mine is 2._04

Problem with a dongle is, wont it use lots of 'usage' being on eBay or PP?

update i have holded the reset button on the router for 50 secs and now i have got a new ip and the network type has changed back to pppoa but i don't know if it will last for long

No im using the sagem router it has no model number bad thing is it has gone back to MER

Mine didnt work holding the reset button, need to find a way to change this IP constantly...

sky are gone crap i think we both need to purchase dongles lol

Problem with constantly browsing eBay PayPal etc is that I'll be constantly topping them up

No you change to BT internet...dynamic ...new IP every time you reset

sky is sticky dynamic, i recomed usings a program to change the .m.a.c to get it woeking propperly, after doing that it will work with the botton reset.

Hey, Tizwoz what program do you recommend i use for changing the m.a.c address??

Tizwoz - Ive tried using SMAC and you can only use a pre loaded MAC address and it doesnt work properly.

Ive tried also the TECHNITIUM or whatever its called but I think im doing something wrong.

Can you quickly write on here the order in which to do things as this is where im going wrong I think....

its been a while but,

connect to your router by cable, goto whats my ip and copy ip to txt file.

start TECHNITIUM or whatever its called, it will show your mac at the top of the screen, click on that then the change mac button, you will see some small boxes pop up, copy your mac into those boxes but change the last two digits IE : E4 to F5, Then click the buttton to confirm it.

i think it used to clear DNS and refresh ip too.

i then used to close down the computer, power down the router for a couple of min's then restart the rounter and computer, goto whatsmyip.org and check it, it should have changed.

try it and rerport back.
