| | | WESTCEL | 11-06-2012 05:13 AM | All my bank accounts closed Hi guys just a word of warning , been using stelth accounts for a while now.
Been using Halifax had 5 accounts all going well opened another 2 savings accounts so 7 in total.
Then all of a sudden could not login to my online banking, phoned them up and I was told I have 60 days to clear my accounts because they did not understand why I was using so many accounts.
Now I have a fraud mark to my name. I have lots of stealth accounts with no valid bank accounts on them. Now I will really struggle to open and more with any one.
So people so don't open to many accounts with Halifax because this may happen to you.
I really need help, is there any pre paid accounts out there that work?
Thanks westcel |
| GreenBean | 11-06-2012 05:43 AM | Sorry to hear of this news, westcel.
There are online accounts that can be used.
You have a more pressing matter.
You need to deal with the actions of the bank before you do anything further.
As soon as possible get your free copy of your credit report.
Have you any idea what triggered this?
If it's too personal, please pm me.
Do note, you need to check matters B4 opening further bank accounts.

| Elijah | 11-06-2012 05:53 AM | Natwest is just as bad... although I didn't get any CIFAS markers fortunately. I had this same crap happen to me from opening "too many" online accounts. |
| WESTCEL | 11-06-2012 06:40 AM | Had one account about a year ago and there was money put in there and I did not know where it came from.
Phoned the bank, they took the cash out and advised me to close that account.
I did and that was that, then the other day when creating new accounts , the accounts were closed, Halifax just didn't like the accounts I guess.
And he said on the phone about what happens on other account last year.
thats what I get for being honest and telling the bank that the money was not mine, I should have just kept it |

Sadly that kind of stuff could blackmark you with the bank |
| WESTCEL | 11-06-2012 07:12 AM | I know that's what I'm worried about, not just for eBay I'm not worried about that , its about having a bank acc at all with anyone. |
| GreenBean | 11-06-2012 07:14 AM | You can not just sit on forum making statements.
You need doing work to get the reasons for the bank's actions.
Dont be scared off because of a dratted bank
:peace: |
Bit of a concern, I have a few accounts with Halifax.
So they told you that you had a fraud mark? Yikes, I wonder how that affects opening accounts with other banks.
All the more reason to diversify, the Ebay market is worldwide, open up some European bank accounts etc |
| Elijah | 11-06-2012 07:46 AM | I like Irish banks |
| they_screwed_me_too | 11-06-2012 07:55 AM | yes possibly a little concerning
i have lots of halifax accounts running stealth accounts
im not sure of your particular situation or finances
are you a long time customer with well established solid current accounts ?
or have you simply opened many accounts at once as a new customer |

There is more to this story than meets the eye or has been divulged so far. My guess is it relates to the "unkown" deposit and subsequent use of other accounts since.
For the banks to close all accounts without warning and to advise the customer of CIFAS markers indicates serious misuse of the accounts in my opinion, not just a "we think you have opened too many accounts with us" |
| Elijah | 11-06-2012 07:58 AM | Natwest did exactly this, minus the CIFAS marker part, to me. And in my case it truly was just a case of "you opened too many accounts with us". |
| NoneOther | 11-06-2012 08:04 AM | Too many too quickly will always draw a banks attention to your activities and every bank has the right to withdraw it's services from a customer if it so wishes.
CIFAS warnings however are a completely different kettle of fish. These are not issued just because you open too many accounts, there has to be evidence of serious misuse of the accounts that could lead to or has led to fraud |
Is it worth closing tainted accounts?, or do you think this will just draw extra attention to you? |
| NoneOther | 11-06-2012 08:13 AM | Do you mean bank accounts?
I would say if the bank have already taken action then trying to close accounts would be futile. |

It was 8 over several weeks. In my case it was not "too many too quickly" by any stretch of the imagination... it was simply "too many" full stop.... |

Had I been directing them at you I would have quoted your post as you have mine. |

your problems with your bank are well documented.
