PayPal, Online Savings Accounts & The 4 Digit Code
 

I've tried over the last few days to get a couple of online bank accounts verified with PayPal. One was with Virgin Money and the other Smile.

On both occassions PayPal said they would deposit £0.01 into my account, along with a 4 digit verification code, and that to confirm I was the owner of the account all I had to do was confirm the code.

With both accounts there was a £0.01 deposit, but no code. I rang both banks, requesting they give me the information that couldnt be seen online, and I was told by both banks that all they could see was what I could see online.

Has anyone else come across this problem? If so, how did you get over it?

There will be a reference attatched to the payment. It does sometimes take 1-3 days for the online banking to show it, but it does eventually.

I had this instantly and got the code in like 10mins with my first account with barclays, got limited though! New account now, still waiting cause I have to wait 2-3days this time.

Yes I have had same on last few accounts, couple had the old 2 small deposits and few others have had the instant deposits into account with 4 digit code appearing instantly or as said can be next day.

Thanks to all for your replies. Problem solved, it does indeed take a few days for the 4 digit code to show online.

Nerve-racking when we are worrying about starting again with stealth.

Thank God for this forum.

I was worried about this, just linked a savings account with Paypal and recieved the £0.01 immediatley but with no code appearing. Called up the bank they never heard of any 4 digit code for Paypal and coudnt see it for the transaction.

Hoping it comes through within the next few days.

Give it 48-72 hours.

Virgin does banking too now?!?

The OP already stated he found out it took more than a few hours to get his deposits.

Virgin has only been doing 'money' since 1995.

Waits in anticipation

I have been waiting for the 4 digit number for my Tesco Internet Saver to appear since Friday. Still nothing. Not sure it is going to show up, called up Tesco too and they can only see what I can already see on my end.

I did one yesterday with a Halifax online saver and the code appeared immediatley.
