Default 2 bank accounts

I wanted to have a spare PP account in the run up to Xmas. Created one in the usual stealth manner.

There seems to be an issue though. I usually have two bank accounts (one proper account and one saver) per PP account and have both verified, sort of like a 'credibility' thing. However, I was not able to add the 2nd bank account. PayPal returned an error along the lines of..... "can't add account now, try later". Tried later, and then days later..... same issue. I am verified though and have the first bank account on there.

So I was wondering..... are we only allowed a single bank account per PP account these days? Is this something new that PP have implemented?

It could be a new thing PayPal have implemented but as the account is verified I would leave it at that.

Used Halifax.

If this is a new PP thing, that would be really annoying. I split my withdrawals into sales and VAT, going to different accounts keeps things nice and easy. I have a friend who sells three categories of items and withdraws accordingly.

Am really getting fed up with PP!

I know what you mean about being fed up with PayPal, it really is ridiculous how they play around with people's lives at the touch of a button.

Halifax are constantly introducing new sort code ranges for their accounts.

As a result it can take some time before these are fully recognised throughout the banking system.

p/p's bots are set up to recognise known sort code ranges so if you enter one that has not yet been updated on their system it will block it.

I would suggest you try it again in a few days, maybe a week or so and you'll probably find it goes through without a problem.

p/p have no issues with new. accounts from major High St banks being added, in fact they love it.

Just one thing that might be an issue is if the account number itself has been used on p/p before. It might be a case of some sneaky person having made up an account number or input digits incorrectly. It has been known to happen

Thanks NoneOther. It's not a sort code problem.

Don't think PayPal allow new PP accounts to have 2 bank accounts. Might be a new thing. Guess I have to be careful not to spend VAT money

Never had a problem adding more than one bank account to a new p/p, latest one only last week.

You mean you pay all the VAT you get paid, you need a better accountant.

All sorted now. They were doing some maintenance work (so all were affected).

However, apparently, on all new accounts. if you add a bank account, then try to add another one, it will be blocked for a while, i.e. you will not be able to add a 2nd bank account upon opening a new PP account.
