Purpose of Adding Credit Card along with bank account?
 

Sorry if this question sounds pretty basic.

I have a few eBay and Paypal accounts up and running using bank accounts only. So I was wondering what exactly are the benefits of adding a credit card to Paypal?

In US if it just a bank account and no card, you have to provide the drive license ID as well. I don't know if it is the same for UK. Plus if it is a buying account it takes a week to clear the payment and some of the sellers on ebay won't even take it, ebay calls this echeck

All of my accounts are verified, so am assuming I do not have to send in any further ID, well not until getting close to the £1900 limit mark.

Any suggestions?

this is a little like the chicken & the egg story.

Bank account attached to paypal allows verification of the account.

The credit card or vcc is used to confirm address etc.


To get VERIFED status on paypal you add a bank. paypal will send the two small deposits (eg. 0.17 & 0.03) Once these hit the bank you check your statment, and input these in paypal boooom VERIFIED

Then to get CONFIRMED you need to add VCC and LINK AND CONFIRM card. This will send the 4-DIGIT EXPUSE code which will confirm your address etc.

VERIFIED & CONFIRMED is what many sellers want.

@OP: In the UK it only confirms your location. Nothing more; it doesn't raise limits like in the US since in the UK verification removes them already (other than that £1900 one).
