| | | | | Elisek | 01-04-2013 10:01 AM | Limited -It's been a little while since you used your account... Actually, it's been about 10 days that I didn't use the account due to it being Christmas/New Year and I was spending time with family rather than on PayPal!
The last thing I did a couple of days ago was pay some eBay fees via my PayPal balance. Both EB & PP are stealth and linked, same info, IP etc... I have not slipped up or caused a link ANYWHERE!
I'm limited but not totally. eBay account is active and I can still receive funds, I just can't withdraw them. Been told to Confirm Bank Account (done), Provide Business Info (done) and Validate Account.
When I try to Validate Account Information, I get told to confirm my location by adding a card. There is already a VCC attached but I haven't confirmed it with the 4 digit code yet (totally forgot about that bit, to be honest).
Do you reckon this will get resolved if I confirm with the 4 digit code? Or is it likely this account's going down?
I've had no high volume sales, opened cases, disputes....everything is fine. 100% feedback, everything stealth and solid. |
| NoneOther | 01-04-2013 10:31 AM | If that's what they're asking you to do then do it.
BTW have you exceeded the £1900 receiving limit which kicks in at £1650 when they will ask you to confirm your ID by supplying photo ID and address verification? |
| Elisek | 01-04-2013 11:34 AM | Hey NoneOther,
I wasn't sure if confirming the card would make the Account Information be resolved, so I thought I'd ask. I'm just waiting for the 4 digit code to come through. I honestly hope that works because all I get asked to do in the Resolution Center is to add a card to confirm my location.
No, I haven't reached anywhere near the limits yet. Only had a couple hundred pounds go in... |
| Jigsaw | 01-05-2013 09:37 PM | Unfortunately confirming your VCC will not resolve that step. You will need to either add a prepaid card that can register any address to validate with phone confirmation or send in a bank statement/utility bill. |
| Laritha | 01-06-2013 11:12 AM | I think once you verify the card, the account will be limited and they will want photo ID, etc. Did you by chance link your account to Auctiva or another 3rd party? |
| Elisek | 01-06-2013 11:34 AM | No, this account is only linked to an eBay account with the same info (which is still active at the moment).
The fees were not that much but they were paid with a PayPal balance that was received about a month ago but only released from the 21 day hold, I think, on the same day that I paid the fees. I've been withdrawing funds as soon as they are released from the 21 days holds because I need the money in real life (rather than stuck on a computer) and have never encountered a problem doing it.
I just don't understand the "it's been a while since you used your account". It's been 10 days. Does that mean we have to log in EVERY DAY?
As for a prepaid card that will confirm a location - can you recommend any?
:) |
| NoneOther | 01-06-2013 11:47 AM | No need for a prepaid card a VCC that will pass AVS e.g. Entropay is sufficient to confirm address/location on a p/p account |
| Elisek | 01-06-2013 12:05 PM | Just waiting for the 4 digit code for the Entropay card. Hopefully when it comes through, that will resolve that step.
I'd rather not have to send in statement/bills just yet... |

It will always ask to enter new card details or ask to provide bank statement/utility bill to confirm address. |

What phone verification? Where did that come from? |

As for the OP's situation a vcc has already been added but not confirmed with 4 digit code. When they do they verification should complete without them having to add another card or provide further documentation. |

What phone verification? Where did that come from? | During the Validate your Account Information step on UK limitations, there are usually 2-3 options to resolve it. Confirm location option uses VCC and phone verification. The alternative options are usually Photo ID and Provide proof of address.
So in the OP's case, when he tries to do the Confirm location step, PayPal are asking to enter new card details because they use AVS to confirm the address, then you are asked to do a phone verification. Confirming the VCC with the 4 digit code won't resolve it sadly.
Entropay has never worked for me to get to the phone verification screen. I always supply them docs and they have been accepted. I have had this step on many UK accounts over the months.
Hope that clear things up. :) |

Not really  | I went into one of my recent accounts that has the limitation step and already has a confirmed Entropay VCC attached. I have print screened the pages.
Image 1: I have circled the limitation step that I have been talking about and the same one the OP has.
Image 2: These are the options you get when you click on resolve.
Image 3: If you click on Confirm location, you will get this page where PayPal asks you to add a new card to coninue with Phone Confirmation. I have circled that part of the text. You will always get that page if your card is Entropay or doesn't support AVS. Same happens even after you have confirmed the card with the 4 digit code. |
| just_smile | 01-07-2013 02:52 PM | I have the exact same problem. Tis rather annoying. So how do you match up your address with a credit card then? Entropay does not work so can anyone recommend one that will lift this limitation? |
| just_smile | 01-07-2013 02:52 PM | Also, what exactly is the 'phone verification'? |
Phone verification is a step when eB (or pp) calls your number, gives your a pin code, and you type the code into the platform site to further solidify your account. Helps for security issues. |

I used to get some from a giftcard website but they stopped selling them now. Your local WHSmith might sell some prepaid cards but not all of them enable you to register an address. I would highley recommend that you supply docs to help you with that step. PM an Admin if you need help on that. |

I have also had this issue. When you add a new new card (I used a Halifax Easycash card), you will then be prompted with phone verification. This is where you get the automated call, and input the 4-digit number you see on your screen.
In my case, it says verification completed after I correctly input the 4-digit code (phone call), but upon clicking continue, it says that "we cant' verify your location, gonna send a 6-digit code by mail".
Anyway, FYI. |

I confirmed my VCC with the 4 digit code sent to my statement and the issue remained unresolved. So I guess confirming your VCC doesn't resolve the "Account Information" step where they want you to confirm location.
So, I emailed PayPal and asked them to remove the limitation. They said they needed a bank statement. I didn't have a paper statement as they are all online but I sent them a letter from my bank confirming the bank account (the letter included sort code, account number and address) and I've just been restored :) |
