Anyone had this error before? It says,
"We're sorry, but we weren't able to confirm your identity and can't let you add a bank account at this time".
I have a screen-shot. How best to upload?

There have been several similar reports in the last few weeks.
It appears to be a glitch, try re adding the account in 2/3 days time

Thanks. I'll wait for a few days.
I usually add one basic account and one savings account when I create a new PayPal account, irrespective of whether I get the old or new deposit method. This new error came up when I tried to add the second bank account.

Police don't do squat against complaints about e/b scammers.

Hi GB,
I had some issues with a buyer, which has now been settled in my favour. But I was concerned my PP/EB might be earmarked or smtg. So I decided to have a backup.
What I did was:
1). Created a new PP account. Confirmed e-mail address and the 2 security questions.
2). Left it for a week, or maybe closer to 10 days.
3). Came back to add a bank account (Halifax basic). Upon trying to add a bank account, I get the error above, as in the first post.
Did it stealth. It's just PP. No EB yet.

Paypal is doing a maintenance run tonight.
Maybe they will get some of these recent glitches worked out.
Try after tonight OP and see if it works.

As per the title of this thread, is PP overwhelmed? LOL!
Wanted a backup PP account, but last effort gave this "identity" error. Thought I'd try a new stealth account. This time, it's:
"Unfortunately, you haven't provided the correct code. For security reasons, we've disabled the use of your bank account....."
With the earlier error, I couldn't add an account.
Now, I can add an account, get to the DD page, input address, but then get this message. LOL! And I didn't even input anything.
Anyway, have a good weekend, guys. Am giving up.

They've had a lot of competition open up over the last few years. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't around in another decade, without some serious overhauling.

Yeah, I dunno about that. Whether they suck or not, they are the standard for the biggest auction site and one of the busiest sites.
All their "competition" is striving to b exactly like them, but they can't. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying paypal is GREAT, but I think it would be if it wasn't for all the drama in between.

I'm not saying Paypal is the better functioning platform. It's just a matter of momentum and market share.
Like every other industry, there's smaller, better players we will never hear about because it just couldn't take off.

Paypal has the marketing down for sure. And I do have to say, I still have a few paypal accounts I use. It's pretty easy for anyone to get paid with it.

Anyway, have a good weekend, guys. Am giving up. | Myself and other users are creating new p/p accounts on a daily basis with very few issues.
There have been sporadic reports of the errors you are getting but very isolated.
If I were you I would double check your MO for creating accounts as you seem to be coming up against this a bit more than anyone else.
Double check every stage, it's often the obvious that we fail to see.

I am pretty sure my MO is solid. I create a new PP account with a new install of XP. Valid landline that has never been used. Always a different IP address, but one that ties to the physical address, e.g. if I use a London address, then the IP, it's of a block of an ISP that's assigned as such. I can even choose which ISP to use, e.g. VM, Sky, O2, H3G.
I think it's just my bad luck - lol.
I got one that works on the third attempt, as it gave the old deposit method.
If you create a new PP account today and it gave the new method, I am pretty sure you would have gotten the same error. It seems to be a result of the updates/maintenance that PP effected today.

I created two new p/p accounts that day and had no issues, everything worked as normal.
