| Bunneh | 02-24-2013 06:16 PM | Paypal Payment on hold? yesterday i received £500 from a buyer for items he purchased from me.
however today i log into paypal and see that paypal have put the transaction on hold??
What does this mean? Is paypal going to refund the buyer? I am to cautious to send the item before this hold complete.
Although knowing paypal this could take weeks and weeks and i have my feedback to worry about
I have received payments from other buyers since this happened so i dont think the problem is on my account. |
GreenBean | 02-24-2013 06:36 PM | Sounds like there is an issue on the buyer side.
More likely paypal are looking at the buyer's account for different reasons.
(One that comes to mind is another payment bounced etc). This is paypal protecting
itself 1st.
Indirectly if the buyer is at fault then you should be covered.
No other emails?
:juggle: |
1. Is buyer`s pp verified?
2. PP is likely putting a hold on the payment, as GB stated, to do internal checks and make sure it is legit.
3. I would not send the package until you get an e-mail from pp |
Jigsaw | 02-24-2013 06:41 PM | Did you receive an email from PayPal saying they believe the transaction was unauthorised? Does it appear in the resolution centre asking you to take action? If so, you have 3 choices to make. Choice 1: This is a risky one (not recommended); try and communicate with your buyer and find out what is going on. If the buyer is serious in wanting the item they paid for, you can send the item using the address shown on the transaction, make sure you get a tracking number and supply PayPal with that on the resolution centre.
After the parcel has been received and shows delivered on the courier's website using the tracking number, give PayPal a call and say "Seller Protection" to the bot. Tell the agent about the hold, they will check if it has been delivered and under their Seller Protection policy they should release the funds over the phone. Choice 2: If you are uncomfortable with Choice 1, you could just wait it out for the buyer to resolve his issues with PayPal. When PayPal restores the buyer's account, the hold will be automatically released. Choice 3: You can decide to just refund the buyer and list the item for someone else to buy.
The choice is yours ;-) |
GreenBean | 02-24-2013 06:44 PM | @jigsaw Choice 4 500 good reasons to wait to take action pending paypal communication.

GreenBean | 02-24-2013 06:51 PM | @jigsaw
If you noticed, they have not
That's my reasonings for caution
:ranger: |
Bunneh | 02-24-2013 06:55 PM | No the only message i got was stating the payment was on hold as paypal thinks the payment was not made by the owner of the account.
I also read that these claim cases cake take up to 30 days for paypal to complete  |

Yes.
Do you know what that means then :juggle: | Yeah, had one of those recently. Means that the buyer was limited for unusual activity and PayPal put holds on all of the buyer's recent purchases. Do you have an option to take action on the case? |

Yes, i have options to refund, submit tracking or other..
I haven't done anything yet, as i am at a loss what to do.
Regardless of what i choose is it really going to take paypal a month to sort out? |

On my recent one, I already posted the item before the hold happened! I supplied the tracking number to the case, waited until it showed delivered and then phoned PayPal Seller Protection to get the hold released straight away.
Have you contacted the buyer yet? As you have not posted the item yet, it would be a good idea to see what problems the buyer is having and if he/she is attempting to resolve it. |
Bunneh | 02-25-2013 03:12 AM | Yes i have contacted the buyer, and they basically told me that everything is alright and that this is a 'random selection review' because of the value of the transaction.
But i have received higher values than this before and this did not happen. |
GreenBean | 02-25-2013 03:17 AM | Bear in mind, Bunneh, the phrase 'random selection review'.
It may be no more sinister than that.
Do you have any 'bad' feelings or just natural concerns?
:peace: |
Ebayorbust | 02-25-2013 04:08 AM | If you havent already sent the item, refund the payment.
It's the safest course of action. |
Agree with safest course as being just to cancel the transaction - look at the amount of worrying it is causing you bunneh.
Not worth the hassle of wondering if legit or not.
Random selection review was SAID by the buyer? BS. |
Bunneh | 02-25-2013 06:32 PM | So earlier today i chose the ' refund buyer option' as it seemed to be the one with the least amount of stress involved.
I informed the buyer of the decision and ever since then i have been getting repeated messages in CAPS saying he hasn't relieved the refund, The case is still open.
I have told the buyer i have no control over this as its down to paypals review to complete but he is getting to the point of threatening.
Im tearing my hair out here!!!! :ahhhhhh: |
GreenBean | 02-25-2013 06:36 PM | Dear PITA buyer
In accordance with paypal regulations, a refund has been issued to you.
paypal makes the final choice as to the timing of this refund.
I have fufilled my obligations as a seller.
Further contact from you will see all messages forwarded to paypal to advise of your non-cooperation and threats.
