paypal uk to phone me when adding bank account
 

Hi

i thought ill add my new bank account to a stealth acc i made in jan 2013, its a halifax online saver, when i put in the sort code and acc number to add it to paypal it showed up as online account so next page it said :

We're going to phone you
For your security, we'd like to phone you to make sure that you own this account.

is that a automated phone call or will it be a live person? and what will they ask me?

i have all the stealth details to hand, just want a heads up about wth this is?

It's automated, happened to me the other day.

It's an automated call and they will just give you a code to enter.

It's very simple, nothing to worry about.

Be aware that halifax savers have had issues recently.

Weird as this sounds, it's a security measure from paypal.....

No activity on the account & then adding a bank account flagged you

It's when I attempt to re-add them that the issues arise, is this the same for you GreenBean?

I could not even get them accepted 1st time.

Been a couple of other reports where there was complete failure on re-adding a savings account too

I got this when adding bank account

okay great now theres something else, i had to change my paypal contact number as the sim i used isnt working anymore, i changed it to new number, few days after i tried adding bank account but it keeps saying, paypal server experiencing some difficulties, cant add bank account??

I've had this twice on about the last fifteen accounts created. I believe it is one of the many trial methods they use and may well be become the "norm" over the coming months. Nothing to worry about so long as you have a working phone number on the account.

as long as it warns you it is going to call first then no probs.....but one other thing though, did it give you a chance to change the number? like it does on the eb seller verification - if not that could be an issue for run out sims scenarios etc...

Can't honestly remember 100% oomps, but I don't think it did.

I got no warning.

oh I thought the 'we would like to call you' was a warning - then you press continue, or not...

as for getting to change phone, well that makes sense that they do not allow it or it would be too easy to get around...but then again why bother, not normal for a hacker to add a bank to another persons paypal, why else would they do this verification??

they do give chance to change number as you have to press continue as i can remember?

so this website error that shows when i try adding a bank acc on that paypal, is that the website playing up or some alert thing that paypal might be suspicious?

and even now i cant seem to add a bank account, keeps saying paypal website experiencing difficulties??? what to do? shall i email them?

or does it make sense to close this paypal account and re open again with same details that match ebay account, just changing the email and phone number ???

Have you tried a different browser first of all?

With out a doubt do not close this paypal.

Like I said, the glitches are making it impossible to effectively use a UK paypal.
Been like that for some time.

If clearing your cache & other remedial work is not successful, try another browser.
