Can I beat the scammers?

I sell coins for coin operated gaming on ebay. This means that when I sell them I send them online and no physical delivery is required. So when someone makes an unauthorised payment claim on paypal the only option I have to stop my money being taken is to show that I have sent my item with a postal service. Obviously I don't have this. Is there any way of getting money back other than hunting the scammers down myself?

Answered your own question.

Send your items via the postal service.

Many ways to do this, get out that thinking cap :)

@OP, you have the suggestions - act on them - PP will not really defend you on a digital delivery claim

Paypal stood up for me with virtual items !!
Wont be doing that again -spent far too much time sweating over it all.
(Are there other places to sell virtual items -or an ebay classified??)

I don't really know but, I not so long ago sold some codes -not realising it was not allowed. So I had buyers from a few places. I then did some more looking into it as I had that feeling about the buyers -yes yes I should have looked before selling But hay ho, learn from mistakes and all that.

So for the uk ones, I ended up sending these things for the buyers I though were suss to friends in the uk - they then sent them on recorded delivery. For to send them out individually from here would with proof of delivery -which uk need, would have been too much hence sending them slow normal postage to people I could trust to re=send out recorded.

For sellers in the usa -again proof of delivery would have been needed and again it would have been far too much to send so all I did was to use cheap stamp, print all the details out and take to post office with envelope and they put their stamp on my piece of paper to say posted on whatever date -although this would not stand up again ebay.usa as not proving proof of delivery.

Australia was ok as only proof of potage required.

So few weeks down the line and I get 3 cases opened -via usa. Two have now closed -found in my favour !! I could not believe it as all I wrote in reply to item not received was posted on blablabla date and have the proof -no tracking number or anything.

Why these were found in my favour I have no idea as I did just email the code. So paypal no longer in the red -phew. Still awaiting the 3rd case.

Lesson learnt so don't have a go at me -I really did not know they were not allowed and as others were selling them I thought I would too. I did email the other sellers and yes they had their fair share of scammers too. But I wont be doing that again.

One other seller just said they reversed the payment if they felt bad about it saying could not verify address.
Oh and the other thing I did was send a false code now and then- to new zero feedback people-and if they got back to me there and then saying not working, I would send a message or two -try this try that etc before sending the correct one -as I felt they were really there trying to put the code in and not just collecting codes to re-sell and scam with.

Apparently the customs declaration thing sometimes tracks -sometimes!! -although I did not do these so don't know for sure

Anyway sorry for going on -just thought I would share my mistakes !
