Bank account - again!
 

Have you guys ever had this?

I just registered a new PP account. I then did the security questions and e-mail verification. I followed this with adding a bank account. This is where I got something odd.

It seems to add OK, but I am not getting the 4-digit code upon checking online banking. So, I tried a random code (1234). It says something like .....code not yet arrive.....

First time getting this. I usually set up a new PP account (create PP account, do security questions, confirm e-mail address, log in and out a few times) and leave it for a day or so before attaching a bank account. This time, I added a bank account not long after creating PP account. Was this the problem?

What bank account have you added to the account? Differs in the amount of time it takes to get the code.

Yeah, I should have mentioned this. Santander basic account. Created account earlier this morning, so a few hours ago now.

i always get a delay with the 4 digit code with my bank but a phone call to your bank will tell you what the code is :heh:

Give the bank a ring, they will be able to tell you the code over the phone

Hi everyone

Im sorry for jumping in on this thread but can't find the answer im looking for elsewhere. I have added my bank account to pp but im stuck at the DD mandate stage. Bank account (my own details etc) Ebay account (@@@@ details).

If I submit the DD mandate will the @@@@ name be shown to the bank?

Or is there something I have missed?

You bank account is always in your real name. It's an offence otherwise.

You then register a PP account with a stealth name.

Here's an example. You name is Bruce Willis. Your stealth name is Orlando Bloom. You create a new PP account using the name Orlando Bloom. You then add your new bank account (which carries your real name, i.e. Bruce Willis) to this Orlando Bloom PP account.

Hope this helps. Do get the stealth guide. I myself found it useful, even with many years on PP/EB.

Thanks guys. But still no joy :( This is why I always prefer to attach a saver first. Looks like I lost a brand new Santander basic account :(

There is no code. I don't think it was ever sent. Why I say this? I created another PP account. When I add bank account, it shows "Unconfirmed - Deposit Not Sent". I then submit DD. It shows "Unconfirmed - Deposit Sent". I then input code for this 2nd account. It shows "Confirmed" and no more red flag.

With the first account (see first post at the top of this thread), When I added bank account and submitted DD, it is just showing "Unconfirmed". :(

Why, oh why, do I have to be the one to experience all new PP issues? :(

Thanks for your reply but is it ok to complete bank set up and do the DD mandate? Will the stealth name be shown to the bank when they send the two small deposits?

Yes, it's fine. Name mismatch is fine. Which bank? Lloyds is a no-no.

Sure bank can see the @@@@ name if they look into the money being sent (will be sent in that name) - why the concern? Explain

Santander for me was always slow. Transfers from PP to the bank were even worse, sometimes 3-4 days. Now obviously, dependent on the account its a 2 hour transfer which usually shows instantly....unless its a 24 hour review as they want to make sure enough funds are left in PP.

Since the faster payments have come in I havent used Santander but used to be slow at everything. Halifax > all

I was just unsure if this was going to cause any problems with the ebay/pp name being stealth and the bank account name being my own name.

So I guess that im ok to go ahead with the DD mandate as the name difference will not be a problem then?

Thanks, but I'm talking about the 1p deposit that PP sends you (when you attach a new bank account to a new PP account) which includes the 4-digit code. I need this code to verify. Surely there is no need for a 24-hour review or whatnot?

So the two deposits for your Satander account have not come thro' yet?

I understand that above. I assume I add the stealth address too paypal?

If so, it's going to be different than the address that I used to create my bank account.

You dont give any address when you add a bank account.

You give account name (stealth), sort code and account number.

I'm using a Lloyds account, not a Satander account, but the 4-digit code that's supposed to be sent when you add a bank account isn't being sent at all.

As Mack said, when I add my Lloyds account and submit the Direct Debit, the status for the deposit just shows up as "Unconfirmed" and it doesn't get sent.

You do realise Lloyds is the worst bank to use with stealth! It is pasted all over the forum stealth & Lloyds do not go well together for mismatched names!

The bank address does not need to match the pp address in general - stealth works

When setting up a basic bank account do i need to use my real address also?

sorry if this seems like a silly question, i have been searching for ways to withdraw from a stealth paypal for days and this is the only thread with a clear answer?

also how long does it take to set up a basic bank account?

any advice help/tips are much appreciated i am very desperate as i need the money urgently (to pay fees on my original paypal account that got suspended), and being a student i have no other source of income.

You have to use all your real details for the bank account. It is a criminal offence not to.

The direct debit mandate is information paypal send to your bank. The bank does not respond back with a confirmation.

Your ID is obtained from the card or from documents requested.

Just type in any bank name and see if they offer an online application, as your a student then most banks have an open door policy with really good accounts that you can open.

Avoid Lloyds but most other banks work fine.

Once you have one account you can more often than not open more with the same bank,over a period of time.
and it can take anything from a few minutes to a week to get your account numbers, especially quick if you try the bank your with now for a second account.

This is what happened. I called up. PP themselves, the person on the other end, did not know what was going. He said that it was " a strange problem". LOL! I burst out laughing at this point. He said that he will try to add it manually on his end and "verify" it. But it remained as "unconfirmed".

I gave up on that PP account. A waste of a basic account. This is why I test with a saver first, 'cos current accounts (and that includes basic accounts) are hard to get!
