Buyer wants refund after 3 months. How to issue refund?

Long story short, buy wants a refund after 3 months, and i felt generous and gave him the benefit of the doubt that he never broke the products himself. I can see the transaction in my Paypal however i cant see any options to issue a refund. How can this be done? Sorry if the answer's blatant.

P.S, there's no Issue refund button next to Sent as its too old. Should i just send him the funds?

I believe the refund button goes away after 45 days. I guess you will have to manually send him/her the funds.

That is correct. Refund and disputes expire at the same time, after that if you want to issue a refund you have to pay the guy, PP will not refund the fees and there is no refund button.

Just out of curiosity did they leave feedback yet

This is insane.

What do they think you are a rental service?

My thoughts exactly Sandy , I'm very easy with returns and thankfully I have very low return rate but 3 months is pushing it

if hes already left feedback and wants a refund after 3 months i would say no and just block them way to long to get a refund he had up to 45 days to get a refund its already expired in pay pal you would have to send the refund back to there email and the fees would be lost on eBay and pay pal

3 months is a fair while.

If its a small value item, fair enough, but if it is a large item I would be very resistant to issuing a refund.

I normally say customer is always right. But this is ridiculous. I would not do it unless the buyer is return customer & item is under $20. As others have said I also don't believe you even open a claim. I would also offer to replace unless item is very inexpensive and it will cost you more.

If you don't mind, I am curious had the buyer contacted you about a problem? All that aside I would not answer emails from buyer. You don't want to antagonize anyone.

I just had a buyer make an unjust claim and threaten me. That solves nothing.

90 days is feedback limit, so why should you give a refund.

Sort of silly of me, hadn't issued refunds much and i didn't realize the time period for disputes had lapsed. I just didn't want him to open a case up against me.

He left a positive feedback, about 3 months ago.

Guess I'm going to have to eat the final value fee.

He contacted me about the fault with the product. Even though this s done and dusted and ill be sending him a refund. Is there anyway he could have opened a case or somehow escalated this issue without "resolve a problem", possibly report me?

The buyer can open a dispute with their credit card company and paypal will go in their favor. So regardless of them leaving positive feedback, the credit card company always wins with paypal.

If you want to provide customer service, offer the guy a small one time credit like 5 or 10 bucks but kindly mention that he had it for 3 months and at this point he would need to contact the manufacturer for a replacement. I have had a bunch of these and after a respond once, I never here back or had a charge back.

Customers just like to test the water, and in this case, it was worth his time:mod:

That is the biggest lie in the world. Credit cards will not always go with the buyer and paypal has no decisions with credit cards companies.

I have received charge backs in the past and won most of them. My last charge back was for a $5 item over 5 months ago and I won it. I simply uploaded tracking info to paypal, waited 9 days and win the case. If you lose all charge back cases then you are doing something wrong.

Credit card dispute has 60-90 day limit to open a dispute. Like others have said buyers don't win all the time.

Usually 180 days is the limit for a charge back though credit cards

From MY experience, this has always been the case. I have only had a few chargebacks well after the 45 days paypal allows and with every one them they went in the buyers favor. I provided invoices, tracking and lost money and product. While I am happy to hear it works for some, please don't say it works for everyone. I did everything RIGHT and still got screwed, not a big surprise dealing with pp.

Re: Buyer wants refund after 3 months. How to issue refund?

Over the years I have had a few charge backs as well, have not yet lost one.

All my charge backs have been for expensive items not received, luckily all these items were sent with full tracking and signatures.

One person last year opened an SNAD case against me on eBay, which I won, and then they tried to issue a charge back for item not received. Some people

180 days is the Industry standard especially in the USA.

Not a shorter period.

Re: Buyer wants refund after 3 months. How to issue refund?

You had a return policy listed didn't you? What was that policy?

I've had people try to get refunds after 6 and 9 months on both E and A. I just blocked that buyer on E as I always use tracking. I offer a 30 day return no questions asked policy and after that they have to use the 1 year manufacturer's limited warranty. And A told the customer that at the time of the purchase you agree to the seller's return policy, which was 30 days (electronics item).

If you can show tracking and that you're complying to your return policy, you don't have to refund them, especially after 3 months, sheesh.

If the buyer is too pushy, try to work things out and be polite. For example, reach an agreement on a partial refund. In my experience this usually works well. It saves you some hassle and both parties are satisfied.
