Closing personal account and opening business account
 

I currently have a personal paypal account. Had it for over a year with no issues, no limitations, multiple withdrawals within 2hrs however I think Im due a very large chargeback this week. Ive been arguing with the buyer who wants a refund but refuses to send my goods back

Ive opened a new business account, same details and have started taking payments with that account with no problemsand no limitations.

Should I close my personal account now before he starts a dispute? What happens if he tries to file a dispute on a closed account but if I have a different account in the same name?

I dont know, hence why Im asking.

I get the accounts will be linked, my question is, can you start a dispute on a closed account?

of course and they will instantly limit your new obviously linked account. Huge no no in all ways. Just deal with the issue at hand. Sorry if I sound rude, but it is a business and part of business is dealing with disputes even if they are unwarranted. Happens everyday to me. Just sat down with an accountant this afternoon going over my personal paypal account 1099/taxes and it had $45,753.00 in disputes that were refunded on just that one personal account. If every time I had a problem I closed a paypal account, I would close at least one account a day.

I have said before and this is crucial to understanding paypal.

paypal will take whatever action it wants to recover funds.

Your new business account will be flagged and you will be without any paypal account unless you are careful.

Avoid letting paypal harm your business.
