Just wanted to check, the phone number on file with paypal is only used for verification if you happen to ring them, is that right?

Youll need it as part of the verification process. They will send you a pin code that you enter.

Only will send a confirmation PIN if it's a mobile though. Area specific land line is different (if you're using phone forwarding)

Yes, just make sure that the phone you're using is never been used once before on any PayPal account.
