Paypal Dispute

Hi All

I had listed on ebay some office 2007 key cards. The listing was removed which was fine but I had someone messaged me how much for 10.

Anyway they bought 10 and I sent the items. They have messaged me to say there was only 1 and 9 were missing. I know that they were in there.

Firstly package was signed for in the morning by him (same surname). However he didn't message me till end of the day to say that his sales manager opened the package and 9 were missing but was 1 was inside the xmas card envelope. I know this not to be true as yes I did send a xmas card but I never put the keycards in with it so how could 1 be in there. I said can you send me a picture of the packaging so I can see if its been tampered with. He said bin men have come and that no packaging. I checked his local council and bin collections are the next day. He then started sending aggressive messages and calling me stupid and that I have 48 hours to sort and he wants my details to pass to the police and trading standards! This guy owns a computer shop (found his website) and he is so rude and aggressive!

Now I know I sent them so what is my next best move? Can I open a dispute before them? Wait for them to dispute it?

I suppose my chances of winning this are nil :(

Re: Paypal Dispute

If hes just bashing for the ONE key, send him a refund for the one or another key in the missing keys place?

with software, he has the potential to do significant damage to the account.

I'd weigh up the pros and cons of burning his shop down

Re: Paypal Dispute

take a look at his feedback and the amount of buy/sale he has because, unfortunatly for you, i think he exactly knows what he is doing...
a dispute on a removed item will maybe suspend your account ..

Re: Paypal Dispute

You were scammed. That is why you should not send such big quantities to fresh customers.

@scooblou, while I do feel for you - the truth is that these kind of seller-scamming is pretty common with media and especially quantity-scamming.

It is a difficult battle for you to win unless you have a lot of PROOF and witnesses that oyu packed 10.

You might not be ready for this kind of selling unless you can take the hits...

Re: Paypal Dispute

Thanks but no one has really answered my question of what my next move should be. I don't really need people telling me I am not ready etc. Its happened so I need to deal with it.

These were sitting around my home and not part of what I normally sell so I sold them through an ebay account I use for risky items so it doesn't matter if I lose the account.

I just wanted advice on my next move.

Re: Paypal Dispute

if you don't care about loosing the account , try to make it as long as possible, for the buyer regrets his move , tell him you send new key, but don't send, tell him the lettre was lost, etc tell you will send again.. but he will get the refund at the end

Re: Paypal Dispute

Yeah but hes very aggresive. Not sure how he owns a computer shop with that attitude.

I have a witness that 10 went in the envelope and I took a pic of the parcel weight but heard paypal always favours the buyer no matter what!

Re: Paypal Dispute

yes, maybe paypal will refund him, there is clearly no proves you send it to him. Is it legal to sell keys ?
Is it legal for him to resell it ?

Re: Paypal Dispute

also , it is not clear in your post, did you sell it to him after the listing was removed ? I mean , out of Ebay ?

Re: Paypal Dispute

Ok as I am quite unfamilar with paypal can I open a dispute on the buyer before he does?

Hoping this will make me look good lol

Re: Paypal Dispute

no, you have no reason (for paypal) to open a dispute.
when he wil open a dispute, send them every proves you have and tell them you have witnesses.
Next time if you ask a payment on paypal, send an invoice for service, not for item, it's safer
