paypal collections ?

few years back i had a ebay / paypal account the address i used was my mums address.

some paypal collections cvo or somethink kept ringing my mum saying she owes the around 500 pounds with which included there charges.

it went quiet for a few months then my mum moved and they rang again asking where she previously lived etc. and asked her her name.

my mum did not know it was so told them her name and also previous address which i used as a postage address on ebay.

paypal must of got my address off one of my old ebay accounts.

now they told her they will send her a letter and she has to pay.

question is whats the best cause of action here, shes a o.a.p she dont even have a pc or anythink, send a letter back stating shes never used ebay? or ?

Happened to me around 5 yrs ago with my girlfriend at her address.
Id tell her to say to them that she has no Idea what the hell they going on about & Stick to her guns and they'll eventually go away.
After all, they cant force her to pay for something she hasnt a clue about ;)...
They'll try though so be prepared for some stalking phonecalls/letters.

Whats the name of the company??

yes, not only send a letter saying shes oap and someone must be fraudulently using her address or details, but tell them if they dont stop you will involve the police for harassment.

thanks guys.

they must be part of ebay or paypal as they had her previous address?
think the company was NCO and there number was 08701525675.

so should i just send them a letter like oompaloompa stated even through my mum said she did live at that previous address.

as they said she owes 550 pounds and they will get in touch with there client and send out a letter to my mum :(

It is up to them to prove she owes the debt not the other way round, regardless of what they say, someone could be fraudulently using her details for all she knows (as its you, she should smack your botty).

The Famous " we dont listen " NCO! Them and Interim (or whatever they called) are a pain in the crack.

Your mum will probably get the "calling card" dropped through her front door if she hasnt already - I caught a classic yrs ago when I was just pulling up on my front as a smart dressed guy was walking away from my partners front door. I just thought the common saleman cold calling etc but after id got out and actually got through my front door and noticed a small yellow card - " we called today but you was not in....bla bla...we'll call again", Adrian (NCO representative) Weird i thought, he just seen me pull up on the front (though the card was addressed in my partners name so maybe if I was a female he would have came back)

I didnt know who NCO were till we searched the Web that night.
Few letters from them but my partner told them she hasnt a clue what they on about and if they continue then she'll report it to the police (like oompa says) and that was the last we heard from them.
