Managed payments with Stealth account
 

I received notice from ebay that I had to switch to managed payments by july and I have a stealth account. Has anyone switched to managed payments with a stealth account? How did you sign up as an individual or business? Did you provide a SSN?

I have.

Signed up as a business entity and had to provide my SSN and EIN. Others here have said they only gave their EIN, but that's not the way I went about it.

Once it really becomes mandatory (if that ever happens) then I have another two business accounts I'll need to get in, so I'll be experimenting with giving the EIN twice, then.

Did your ssn match the ebay stealth account you have?

It did not. It is an eBay account so there was no type of tax ID on file previous to this. It's also a stealth account.

I got the same email today. Does that mean I HAVE to move to managed payments and provide an EIN? I seriously don’t own a business and I’m not using eBay to run a business. I’ve been selling off my baseball card collection from childhood and am moving.

You don't have to until they won't let you accept direct PP payments anymore.

just choose personal instead of business when asked and give either ITIN or SSN,then link a bank account.
Every seller has to accept MP come this July

If you go back into the archives of the message board, people have signed up with mismatching names, BUT when you get to the selling thresholds of $4k and 10k you are required to update your info to match your bank info or send docs.

So it doesn’t matter if I use my real social security number and bank account? It won’t match the stealth account obviously

Of course that would matter - especially if you have multiple accounts you're needing to switch over. Agent knows nothing about managed payments. :attention:

Would it trigger eBay's system if I signed my ebay up as a business entity right before signing up for MP?
Also, with your business bank account linked to your business stealth, did you just have the bank's nickname match?
Since obviously real name will not match stealth.

eBay:
"John Doe's Supplies LLC"

Chase bank:
"John Doe's Supplies LLC" Business Checking
