Being forced onto MP. I have an LLC - Am I safe?
 

I have been researching managed payments on here since the initial invite in July. Slowly eBay is forcing me onto it. Now I can not revise my listings to add additional quantity. I mainly list fixed price so this is basically forcing me on to MP.

About ten years ago, I messed up and received some small sales/payments that I did not ship and lost my selling privilege as an individual seller.

The scenario that has worked me for five years has been to use an individual eBay seller account registered to a family member and accept payments via paypal to an account that is operated by my LLC that I formed which is operating under an EIN.

I have nearly perfect eBay feedback, no violations and everything has been going fine.

Now that I am being forced to take the plunge into MP I'd like to know what is the best practice. In the process of switching to MP I know I can upgrade my account to a business seller account but would I have to give my real name too?

I am not sure if my family member would let me upload an ID of theirs in this case. Does this cause an issue with mismatched names or is this no longer relevant because I would be upgrading to a business account?


Is it best to use a multi-member or single member EIN? I'd prefer to find a way to not disclose my real name if possible. Wonder if anyone else had any luck.

Should I maybe just start from scratch on a new seller account?


Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

There is no definitive answer to your questions.

Stealth doesn't work like it traditionally did on managed payments.

Just submit real information when signing up to MP and hope for the best. One thing I do know providing creative docs or made up info the chances of a permanent ban are much higher than submitting real info.

Ebay need their sellers right now so they will probably disregard any issues that happened years ago as long as you are performing well now and playing by the books.

You should be able to transition your account into MP by providing your real info + your LLC info.

Tell them during registration that you're doing business as an entity instead of an individual. They will still ask for your name and SSN but since you're not doing business as an individual that won't matter.

I think even if you use multi member LLC's eBay still asks for the personal info of the majority stakeholder.. so I doubt that's a valid way of getting around doxxing yourself.

Thanks this is helpful. My big concern however is if I should update my ebay contact info before converting into the business version of the MP, or would this be a red flag.

I know some other people have mentioned they ran into trouble with their new valid info under MP not matching their prior name on ebay.

Is this not a concern since I would be converting it into a business account?

I know this is all new. I just want to make sure I am doing it the best way possible before taking the plunge into MP.

This will definitely be a learning experience.

eBay requires the beneficiary owner's personal info for business accounts. There really is no advantage, you now submit 2 sets of info that eBay can use to link you in the future.

Ebay gave me final notice of need to sign up for managed payments. I had been suspended years ago when shipping was separate from Ebay charges and had 2 stealth accounts since. Most recent has $12k limit over 600 positive feedback and top rated status. I was worried as everyone else that I would get found out if I gave my personal info and it would all turn to dust. But after reading all I could in this forum I bit the bullet and gave real name and linked to the bank card I have been using through Paypal for years. After clicking send the next page says I am cleared to go with managed payments. I figured no other way to hide so here we go. So far so good. Anything changes I will post.

I have had many ebay accounts suspended and have a lot of stealth accounts I put my real info on 1 that had to be switched to MP and is all fine

Hey there, thank you for the info. Did they required you to update your account info to match your real info you provided for MP? Or can you leave your account info stealth info? Most things I’m reading says you need to update info to match. Thanks!

If he is receiving payments, he should be fine. The problem with not being stealth is the same issue some people have been exploited on mercari who verified their accounts.,When you use REAL data, any company can accuse you of anything they want. Hell, i get copyright take downs on drop shipped friskars cat food. If Friskars wanted to, they could sue me. If i don't respond to their suit, they win by default. When companies can get all your data and these bully lawyer companies do lawsuits, in the coming years. You're going to see a lot more angry people.

That is a large group of sellers. Some just store names, but when they don't respond, dior will ask for discovery, eBay(note, i don't know if that is websites or stores, or what in that filing. i just picked a random one, there is nike etc.. on that page doing same "net" tactics- hoping to catch some random kid who will pay their ransom to make it go away) will then word vomit all their data to them, including names on the accounts, addresses, emails, and soon financial data. If you do not respond, you lose by default. Each violation of that act is hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This is why we preach to spread out your sales. ebay isn't going to invite 25 of your accounts to managed payments selling 1-2 items a day.Sure a few might, but the rest wont.

well, I just got the "invite" on 7 accounts that sell 1 item PER WEEK.
I spread stuff out religiously and still got the "invite" this week.
