This should not be a question. Don't upgrade your account OR start a new one. Upgrade your account AND start a new one.

Won't eBay see that as a red flag if you upgrade a stealth account to MP and simultaneously register a new one? If one of them gets banned won't the other one get banned since they're both using the same real details? Or are you suggesting to register a new stealth account (⊗⊗⊗⊗ details) and then upgrade that new stealth account to eBay MP immediately?

The more accounts, the better. As for a red flag for creating a new account as well as converting your existing one- Thousands of people just changed multiple stealth accounts to their real info. I changed 8 stealth accounts into my real info in a month's time. If there's a red flag for you, we all have red flags.
We don't yet have linking info, as it has not been a thing for long enough to know. Maybe they will be linked, maybe not. Either way, the more accounts that you have, the better.

myself I would create 2 new accounts and just use the one as long as it lasts. Always be creating new accounts is one of my most important rules, but with the new details it is getting harder. If you have ever been suspended on ebay its very likely they will either link you at some point or you will end up suspended again. The problem with the MP is what happens after your suspended again? This is the reason that stealth accounts were so important. Ebay may end up losing alot of their sellers over this, They are trying to become Amazon or Walmart, which is not what their original customer core was.

Once you're banned from MP, it's for life though isn't it? They have your SSN so you are SOL as far as being linked eventually, it would seem. IMO it depends on their motivation for asking for SSN. If it's a government mandate they might not care but if it's to weed out scammers then it's probably just a matter of time before they start linking the SSN of multiple accounts. Ebay is NOT a tech company, they're as competent as a bank when it comes to tech. I guess we can pray that eBay is too incompetent to secure a database of SSNs and uses a third party for this which won't let them link it to their database of info for linking accounts. TBH I'm wondering if there's some sort of regulation when a company takes your SSN like with credit card applications where you have a right to know why you were declined. eBay doesn't want to tell anyone why they're banned because then people will reverse engineer it faster.
