Instant Link for Bank Accounts
 

I am trying to set up my most important eBay account for MP and while using CITIBANK I inputed my details to do the instant bank link. Its coming up as,

"Sorry, we are unable to connect to your bank at this time. Please try again later."

Extremely depressing. Prior to this it recognizes my bank account, even shows the last 4 of the checking #. I thought having this bank would be a smooth process because its a big bank. The business name matches, the address does not. I can update to the business address I have on eBay if needed but I don't think that causes a issue?

Any thoughts? I don't want to send in a bank statement because that leaves a door open for an ID request. I don't think I would get an ID request but I don't want to risk it. Having seen this work for so many of you, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong??

have you tried selecting "other" bank and having them do the micro deposits?

Is that the same as doing it “manually” where you have to send in a bank statement after 4k? If it’s not I’ll defiantly try that out.

There are only two ways to link your bank account and doing the microdeposit method is apparently what leads eBay to ask for statements. Seems to be true for both American and Canadian accounts. I wouldn't risk it.

There's always a chance you really do need to just try again later, op. I doubt the address is an issue. I don't know of any way eBay could see an address associated with a bank account.

Not sure what else to say. It's still so new that nobody knows what they are talking about here. My experience with 3x WF accounts was as smooth as it could possibly be.

I entered all of my banks manually. I didn't know this was an issue. I figured that was safer than giving them access to my online banking. 6 banks, only one did micro deposits

That's actually something I've been curious about (the microdeposits). It seems like there's been a lot of people who did that method and then started receiving payouts without ever receiving or verifying micro deposits. Are you saying that's what happened for you on 5 of your 6 accounts? And have you crossed this theoretical $4k statement request threshold on your accounts yet?

I haven't tried doing microdeposits in MP so my advice is based on anecdotal evidence. A friend of mine was asked for bank statements when upgrading a CA account using the microdeposit method. He did his next account using instant verification and was not asked for statements.. but I can't definitively say the method he used to link his bank account is what triggered the statement request.

Instant bank verification is done by a 3rd party over https so it's safe to use on both MP and Paypal.

It was actually 9 accounts, 6 different banks. And yes, only one did microdeposits. The others just went through. No, I haven't reached any threshold. I haven't been selling a lot on eBay lately.

Thanks for your response. I’ve gained a lot of hope & inspiration from your posts. It seems like everything is working for you. It’s the type of thing where I know it can be done, I just need to execute properly.

I do use a VPN from 24vc, which is a solid supplier but I could see that as a possible issue? After I got the error and attempted again I could tell the cookie had blocked my account because in order to redo it I had to close out of MP and reopen everything. So reattempting using my phone as a hotspot probably didn’t mean much.

I’m going to try on my cellphone tomorrow, give it about 48 hours. If that doesn’t work I’ll wait 5 more days and then, I don’t know. If it still doesn’t work after that it clearly is something I’m doing wrong because if it’s worked for others like yourself, it should work for me.

------------There are times Paypal cannot access the bank website,but this is Citibank,so kind of rare ,try again later

most big banks have more than one routing number ,are you sure you are using the right one for your account?

Have you ever signed up for MP? It’s instant link meaning I use my bank login. I’m not trying to do manual which is where you use the routing number.

My bank statement does not show my personal name because its a business. The part I am concerned with going the manual route is when they review my information they might see the personal name with SS is different than the stealth name which could cause the ID check. I don't know what exactly eBay can see...

Anybody with advice or have had this issue come up I'd be thankful for some guidance.

If you have the ability to do micro deposits it can verify your account without sending a bank statement.
