Is this the only way to go Stealth with MP?
 

Hello,

I read most of the threads for MP and like most of you I'm very sorry we can't go Stealth anymore. At least not as easy as with PayPal before.

The only way to go Stealth is probably with creating business eBay accounts.

I enrolled for Managed Payments a year ago and I verified my main accounts using my real info (SSN, DOB). eBay asked me for my SSN and I provided it.

What I read here on Aspkin is eBay askes for the last 4 digits of your SSN (not the whole SSN) in case your eBay account is Business. So you can have many accounts let's say 10 business accounts. All of them would be verified with the last 4 digits of your SSN. Then you add EIN for each business account and real business bank account for each eBay account.

Then you can run separate accounts and eBay would not be able to sync the accounts.

How does that sound? Any thought would be very helpful.

There is no rule that if you make different EINs and give eBay same last 4 of social than eBay won't like you.

It doesn't seem like ebay is focusing on linking people right now. Even if people use real name (not EIN) and give whole social.

Last 4 of social is important, rest is easy to figure out. First 3 digits is location of birth (kind of like area code), next 2 digits are from your birthday (for example Jan 1 - Jan 3 is 01, Jan 4-Jan6 is 02). And with public data it's very easy to figure out your entire social.

People doing your method is just hoping it makes them invisible. But on the other side of the coin, it's very possible eBay down the road starts checking/verifying people - see who EIN is registered to, see if social match, see location of EIN, etc. Even if you have legit business would suck ebay bans you just because you are using stealth info, whereas if you use real you are safe.

it's ebay, no telling what they will do in the future. Ebay even doesn't know what it will do in the future. eBay wakes up in the morning and throws dart at dart board and lets the dart board decide

The only way to sell on eBay right now is to follow all the eBay rules, stop selling VERO items, offer great customer service... I do that with all my stores in the last few years and I haven't got any issues so far. I even don't use a VPN. I'm using my Macedonian IP address and sell on a US store. Thank God no issues so far.

I totally understand eBay. They are trying to catch up with Amazon and make their marketplace a safe place to buy online. I would do the same thing if I was eBay.

What I do not like is sometimes they might suspend your store for no reason. Even if you are doing everything right. If you are all legit (like I am) and they suspend your store for any reason you are done with eBay. This is why I think having 2-3 different EINs might keep you on eBay even though you have lost any of your stores.

Well that has always been the rules and basics since the beginning.
Problem was some bad apples ruining something good for the rest of us so they become a lot tougher.

Imagine if 100% of humanity is only capable of good. This wouldn't have been an issue.

But yes it's always advised for everyone to run multiple accounts to lower the risk of losing everything

Just an FYI... 2nd set of numbers are the year range, not month.

And in 2011, I think it was, they started assigning the first 3 numbers at random. It really helps prevent what you're getting at in your post... the reconstruction of SSNs using public information.

Yeah format changed in 2011, but the people with new format is 10 years of age or younger... I think this is why ebay just asks last 4, because they expect people above 10 years of age and first and middle parts of SSN can be figured out
