Does the Bank Account Name Have to Match?

So when creating a managed payments account, obviously if you create a new eBay account in today’s day and age at 100% Hass to be managed payments. I’m wondering if I can use a family member’s name and then put my bank account on it with their permission? I see that question asked dozens of times but no direct answer. Can eBay see the name on the bank account you link it to? Because PayPal could not.

I dont think they can, i mean if paypal can't why would ebay be able to? Plaid can see the name, if you log into your bank account through them. Thats because when you give them your password that's what its for , to identify you. When you do test deposits no names are passed. They are just making sure its an active account that they can pull from. The bank can see the name of whats coming in, they wont stop it unless its a tax refund. When Ebay says the names "must match" and im doing mismatch right now, means its a bluff

I agree, I think they’re using the same system that PayPal I had before. The other thing that they do is when they make a deposit it clearly shows the name of the person that’s depositing it, and some banks won’t allow that. However many of them will and they don’t really care.

So you have been able to deposit into a bank account with miss matching names? Like a different name on the eBay account deposited into an active bank account with a different name?

I have been able to. I have a business MP account cashing out to a bank account with a different LLC name. I used instant bank verification which I believe is handled by plaid as referenced above.
I can't comment on trying to do it with a personal account but it's probably the same.

What is Plaid? Is that only for business accounts?

Re: Does the Bank Account Name Have to Match?

It's available for everyone to use. It's the 3rd party that does instant bank verification. Both Paypal and eBay use them.

When you login to your online banking instead of doing micro deposits to add your bank account, you are using plaid's service.

Re: Does the Bank Account Name Have to Match?

I just added my real details to an old inactive stealth account. My bank isn’t in the list so I had to do the micro payments.
I had to have everything exact name social middle initial everything before it would verify and let me start listing items.
It took two days.
