When will eBay ask for passport/ID?
 

My passport is expiring soon, when does eBay ask for a passport/ID/other documentation (besides name, DOB, address, SSN) ? Can I submit it now so they don't shut me down suddenly out of the blue? Or how to trigger it? How does this work if you have multiple accounts that were upgraded from stealth to MP using the same SSN? Do all of the accounts get the passport requests at the same time regardless of each account's revenue?
What sort of documentation do they need besides passport if you're selling < $200k annually?

If u will have a lot of sales or transactions they maybe ask for it.

Nobody can tell you , when ebay will ask you for passport. It's depend from them.

Any idea what velocity and/or total sales for month/year/quarter? Is the trigger weighted toward total revenue or number of transactions? What do they ask for besides passport? Is a drivers license accepted equally or will they demand a passport but not drivers license (or vice versa) under some circumstances? How long do they halt payouts while they review it? I don’t think we’ll ever exceed $100k in annual revenue.

I’m guessing there are a lot of factors which effect how much you can sell before
They ask for id

A) category you are selling
Is it High risk medium low

B) age of your account & maybe its health such as too many negatives
Returns listing take downs etc

C) sudden velocity increases or sudden category changes
Like you were always selling low price low risk items with low monthly gross of $200
All of sudden you are selling higher risk category & your monthly gross sales as Gone up a lot

I have only been asked once back in 2015 and there was a very specific reason why.

Out of all my 100+ accounts I’ve made I’ve only been hit with a ID request once. And that’s because I signed up with my seller account with a Textfree number. That’s the only thing I can pinpoint it to.
