Is TextNow phone number enough to get an account suspended?
 

I just made a new account, all real (and new to Ebay) info, but my account was permanently suspended (they specifically said "PERMANENTLY") after about 2 days... I don't know what could have flagged the account. What I DO know for sure, for the benefit of those who use this to determine in a bigger picture how Eb. is working:

My real name, DOB, and SS# (formerly used on a suspended account) was used on an otherwise completely new account, computer, IP, everything. I've used Aspkin's forum for 8+ years, everything besides name, DOB, and SS# is definitely new.

But I DID use a TextNow phone number. I paid the annual subscription, I got verification codes, etc.

My suspension was quick and permanent, they didn't even ask me for more info, ID, or how my day was going. Just BAM goodbye forever, don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

So I'm thinking that maybe they DO link with Name and DOB and SS#, or maybe a TextNow # makes them explore one step further and THEN check the Name/DOB/SS info....?

I'm curious to know what the experienced here think, and also wanted to share for the benefit of those keeping track of Eb's habits.

The Textnow phone number is not doing you any favors. Best to use major carrier on a monthly plan. The Textnow might have been a red flag that alerted the bots and the suspension.

Do not use this app. Re-used numbers, also virtual ones which is not the best option

TextNow is a voip number, voip numbers used to work with websites but that has changed now. You need a real number from a major carrier even tracphones are blacklisted now

TextNow phone numbers are known to be heavily reused/abused

in my own travels i have found that almost all the digital phone numbers get your account suspended or some sort of verification hoops to jump through. its better to just avoid it and use real phones
